ufc 109, my thoughts

first of all good card with interesting results, who ever thought coture would win by rear naked choke??? amazing

serra-v-trigg

had a feeling this would end this way, serra has always been heavy handed and proved it again. i dont think this fight had any significance to any of these fighters in terms of getting a title shot but serra definitly needed a win after 2 losses on the bounce

swick-v-thiago

for swick this another disappointing performance against a top welterweight, rarely troubled thiago and this loss sends him down the pecking order at 170. for thiago, this dude in my opinion looks the business, great hook to rock swick and a textbook d'arce choke to put swick to sleep. thiago mightened be of the same calibre of GSP but he'll definitly be a hand full for any top welterweight especially with his knock out power. i would love tosee him face of against dan hardy after GSP disposes of him.

marquardt-v-sonnen

absoluetly shocked!!! his lack of ground defence clearly evident as he was ripped apart. offered no ability to stop the take downs, but did cut sonnen badly with a sharp elbow. sonnen is one tough S.O.B. great wrestling and smashed nate for most of the fight. i think he gets the next title shot but i cant see him making an impression in a fight against silva or belfort

couture-v-coleman

wow!!! first off, why didnt coleman shoot for the takedown at any point??? in his last fight against bonnar he took him down at will and battered him. y didnt he try this last night???

i cant see much more point of coleman continuing on with his career(but who am i to say a hall of famer should'nt fight anymore). for randy, this was an awsome performance, great jabs great clinch, great use of his greko roman and a great un-characteristic rear naked choke. hes a legend! who do you guys think randy should fight next and where will another win put him in the title picture??? personally i would like to see him fight someone like rich franklin now that hes at 205

agree or disagree, let me know.

I agree dude

im very pleased for the win for thiago he dosnt get the respect he desrves i think very good overall he will be another great all rounder like Fitch and Gsp but be in the exact same boat as Fitch with never being able to beat GSP

i think it would be a battle between fitch and Paulo for the number 2 spot soon enough

Fitch and Thiago have already fought at ufc 100....I dont like rematch unless they are a must. There is plenty of respectfull fighter for thiago to fight in the welterweight.

yeah i know they already fought at 100 and i didnt really mean a rematch either but it might go that way

since the ranking jump about so much and if thiago gets a few more good wins against top guys i see a jump about for thiago to get the #2 spot and it jumping about all the time between him and fitch then leading up to a rematch that was what i meant but id like to see paulo against Alves now to see that

agree

i called serras KO after the first 2 exchanges, going body and taking a few shots in the face.

swick looked horrible, just sloppy. thiago looked great, killer instincts??? haha UFC is his day off

i think sonnen exposed nate, really overrated. i had seen nate fight but he didn't interest me, wondered why everyone thought he was "the great" lol. sonnens wrestling was really really good, and he makes me laugh. What was that comment about being a republican and not lying between another mans legs.

coleman probably saw the ufc poll before the fight, lol. haha but seriously, i think the first few stiff jabs rattled his brain too much

I agree Paulo Thiago is moving into title contention with wins over Swick and Koscheck, but the 1st fight with Fitch wasnt really close. Thiago spent most of the fight on his back getting battered. Fighting Fitch was a good preview to GSP whos wrestling is even better. Paulo Thiago gets 1 more win over a top contender, imo will put him in line for a title shot.
