Strikeforce/DREAM

How do they already? the UFC 107 replay had more people watch it then strikeforce's last event..

Cable TV Vs Premium TV. Spike is easier to access than Showtime. Period.

Fedor vs Rogers was the 2nd highest viewed MMA event on television.

It's conceivable that they could if they drop some of the cans. Particularly Dream as the Japanese like some weird ****.

But if they merge all their top fighters and some up and comers who actually have a future (guys like Shane Del Rosario and not Bob Sapp) they definitely could compete.

I dont dislike Strikeforce i just feel like they need a lot of work to do..If they put jose canseco in the cage with herschel i would be disapointed.

I actually wouldnt be. Jose is a joke, and though Herschel may not be a top contender, he has put in work and is a solid martial artist. So I would enjoy seeing him kick the **** out of Jose.

well its just the fact that it would be a freak show kind of but then again kimbo is in the UFC..even though i like kimbo..I dont think that fight would really get a lot of ratings anyway..

lol..Thats one card though..They are gonna have to do more than just have two or three cards on CBS..lol

Yea Strikeforce needs more depth but I'm not sure DREAM is the place to look. Check out what happened to the two DREAM fighters in the last event. Zaromskis and Manheof both got KO'd. I already know someone's gonna say "but Manhoef was dominating the fight before blah blah" and I don't want to hear it. None of his punches got through and he was only kicking one spot on Lawler's leg. Lawler executed a rope-a-dope to perfection. Lawler even said post fight interview "I knew he drops his hands when he rushes in." They were both good fights though.

I agree about the two fighters..I seriously though melvin was gonna win with the pace he was goin at..I think robbie got a good punch in other wise if the fight would have continued the way it was goin the decision would have gone to melvin no doubt..

It all takes time, remember when UFC had stacked cards every card?

They had only 5 to 6 PPV a year?

Strikeforce is heading on that path, but the fans only see UFC and fighters they believe should be in UFC. Give it time soon their cards will be just as stacked everytime and prolly on monthly basis. Strike does do monthly shows in the challengers series as they are trying to discover the untapped prospects in the states such as Shane Del Rosario & Lavar Johnson and Brandon Cash. Given time more and more fighters will come like Rafael Feijao one of Anderson Silva's teammates.

Some fans dont even have Showtime, most cable/satellite providers mostly dish out HBO for free while Showtime is more a premium channel where Strikeforce mostly show their events. If Strike was able to show every event on CBS guaranteed that they will overpass any UFC replay since its easy access as it is Network television.

UFC main events didnt do as well as they hoped it would do against Fedor vs Rodgers. ANd in case you didnt hear about it that event skyrocketed in Russia with over 6 million views of Fedor beheading Brett Rodgers.

Had Carano vs Cyborg shown itself on CBS it wouldve pulled millions of viewers.

I'm excited to see Manhoef and Zaromskis fight again. They're both good fighters. Zaromskis ran into a top 5 welterweight champion and Manhoef ran into a freight train overhand right.

Notice how Dana scheduled a supercard (UFC 112 Silva/Belfort Penn/Edgar) a week before Showtime's next CBS show? I guarantee you the Strikeforce card had something to do with it. Two UFC titles on the line in one event doesn't come around often.

I'm sure the Strikeforce event played a small part, but the real reason is to put on a huge show for their new partners in Abu Dhabi. I really don't understand why people want to sit around & compare organizations. The UFC was around for more than a decade before Strikeforce came along. It will take them years to get where th UFCis now. WHO CARES?! I watch UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, Dream, MFC, K1, kickboxing, grappling, whatever. I just love to watch good fights, regardless of where they take place. Unless you have some financial stake in one company or another, I don't get why you would argue about who is superior. To be honest, some of the best fights I've ever seen, have been in MFC out of Alberta on HDNET! Just enjoy all the MMA that is on in so many places today, and don't worry about which promotion it is.

Don't really disagree or agree with either side..

Fedor vs Rogers was the 2nd highest viewed MMA event on television.

Just wanted to say how that is pretty misleading. The only events UFC would have ever had on TV to rival those statistics, would be Fight Night Live events and UFC Replays. Those are obviously not comparable in magnitude to Strikeforce putting Fedor on a card.

You think so? Cause I seem to remember the biggest fight in MMA history being put on free tv by the UFC and that was Dan Henderson Vs Rampage Jackson to unify the belts. That's the #1 spot and only by 300k more views than Fedor got.

Since strikeforce is talkin about havin title fights such as gilbert vs aoki and some others comin in' date=' you think if Strikeforce and DREAM combined like merged together could they compete with the UFC?[/quote']

Easily' date=' as they already compete with the UFC.[/quote']

Have you seen the Strikeforce on CBS card for April 17th? :)

I'm not trying to compare organizations. I like them all too. I just wish Dana would stop trying to kill every other organization so he can have a monopoly. Strikeforce is finally peaking out from the UFC's shadow and I want it to survive this time.
