MMA_Spawn
I was wondering what people thought of Wanderlei's ability to cut down to 185 and still possess the strength, endurance, and punching power that he had at 205. He has never fought at 185 and I'm really wondering if he will be capable of making weight in Australia, and if he does will he be so dehydrated and fatigued that he won't have the stopping power to finish Bisping. I believe that since he has such a large frame and so much muscle that he won't make weight, especially dealing with the change in sea level and weather conditions. MyTH_MMA
I think he's had enough time to adjust to it. His last fight was Franklin, right? That was a while ago, I know he had trouble making weight for their catch-weight fight. I would like to think he's become acclimated to it by now
Trodrigues
I don't think people lose strength and conditioning like that, specially because after fighters weight-in they put a lot of weight.
Aaron91
I think him cutting to 185 Is a HUGE mistake, we all saw how the cut to 195lbs affected him, this is 10lbs more he has to cut. The fact Is hes a heavilly muscled guy who relies on his punching power to win fights, cutting to 185 Is gonna considerably reduce that punching power

He should be one of the most if not the most powerful guy at 185 now. That's my hope anyways.

DarkReflection
I think he'll be just fine. The Franklin fight was months ago. He made 195 then. (Not healthily but he made it) He's just got to lean out some of that muscle. He's a smart guy. He's had time to do this right and I think he will. He'll probably be insanely ripped...but I think it'll be healthy. Cheers -DR

VinceBlack
Although I do think that the cut in weight will reduce his overall strength I don't think that he will lose his ability to KO guys. This might be a better move for him overall if he can effectively cut for weigh-ins and regain for the fight. Give him a size advantage to help him bully leaner fighters like Bisbing. KRYME
I'm sure he'll be fine. Wandy is the best, and he knows what he's doing. He's winning this fight. -buy the ticket. take the ride.

Can Wanderlei be a force at 185? Sure he can. I understand just because we haven't seen it yet doesn't mean it's impossible. That being said, it doesn't look good for Wanderlei but I don't mind being wrong.
CLEVERFAN
I hope he doesnt stay at 185 because Anderson and Wand were at the Chute Boxe academy together and I dont think Wand would try to face Anderson for the belt.

Chuteboxcamp25
TBH the weight cut has me nervous. he has never cut this kinda weight before in his career. im also interested to see how much quicker wandy will be if at all. bisping does have a chance to win if he manages to dance and run around enough to avoid the KO., and squeak out a decision if the weight cut effects wandy the way some folks think it will. MMA_Spawn
I see people are allready lining up the excuses. I'm not one to make excuses, as I like Bisping. I'm just thinking that Wanderlei is not cut out to fight effectively at 185. He's such a muscular large-framed man and I don't think he will be able to handle the cardio requirements of fighting into the later rounds. I honestly expect that he won't make weight and Bisping will have to negotiate a catch-weight or Wandy will forfeit the fight. If Bisping can wear him down and definitely believe he can win the fight, but I recognize that Wanderlei has great power and that he will attempt to swarm Michael at the commencement of the first round to overwhelm him. Bisping will have to use his great footwork and counterstriking to avoid the early KO/TKO.

Thats not true. Wanderlei will fight anyone at anytime. He's not scared of anyone. That being said i think Anderson would destroy him because Wanderlei isn't the same fighter he use to be. Back in Pride Wandy would eat Anderson for breakfast.

MMA_Spawn
he was 195 at ufc 99. so yeah he has had enough time. He didn't look great against Rich Franklin and we all know that Franklin can be knocked out, as evidenced by Silva x 2 and Belfort. Wanderlei couldn't knock out Franklin and I think the larger cut will sapp him of his strength even more. He's going to gas out and won't have the finishing power he has had at 205. K22UFC
I hope Bisping doesnt be stupid and try to stand with Wanderlei for the whole fight. He has great ground and pound. I like the way that when he takes someone down he stands up and starts punching and kneeing them from his feet. More fighters should do that. Its very exciting and it does alot more damage then punching your opponent from the guard.

Bisping is gonna stand with Silva...until he gets clipped then he will try to take Silva down. I think Silva will hit Bisping and get him in the clinch and land some devistating knees. Silva by UFC glove murder....he forgot his Axe.
nonbiased
His cut at 99 affected him pretty bad, and i still thought he won that fight. But you can't leave it up to the judges! Anyhow, he made 195 back in June of 09 right? Well he has had 8 months to cut the weight the right way. I may be biased toward wand, but I think he will make weight rather easy, and be quicker than usual.
UFCCagerattler
Rule of thumb: time destroys speed not strength. The last thing an old fighter needs to do is lose weight and go down a class where everyone is just that much quicker.

JCH230
I like Wanderlei, but i dont think it will matter one way or another, unfortunately it seems like he's lost his swagger that he once had. Bisping is sharp and his only losses have come from GREAT fighters, so whether the weight drop affects him or not I think Australia will be a disappointing trip for Wanderlei. I wouldn't mind being wrong though, he used to be a beast.
