just watched the shogun machida preview on ufc main page and makes me hate ed soares even more. he said that shogun's legs kick didn't do enough to win him the fight and that leg kicks don't win fights. umm didn't his fighter jose aldo "much respect for aldo" beat faber with leg kicks? so he says shogun's leg kicks arent enough to win fights yet they messed up machida big time. and i guess he doesn't think aldo's leg kicks won him the fight against urijah. i just hate the guy!

Yeah I am so f'ckin glad Aldo showed all the non believers legkicks do win fights.

 

A shame all the people that complained about Aldo not finishing. I could care less. I had a big smile on my face after that fight. Why? Because it would shut up all the leg kicks don't win fights people.

Faber couldnt walk after the fight, and the fight would have been stopped had it not been such a hyped fight and in aldo's hometown when aldo had him crucifixed hitting him with punches and elbows for like a minute...but yea, leg kicks can win fights.

The man is going to say anything to make his fighters look good, just like Dana says any crap to make UFC looks good and others look crap.

Leg kicks are indeed brutal, Faber's leg was really ****ed up some days later. If Machida gests a UD with Shogun's UFC 104 strategy he will say the exact contrary about leg kicks... Its just bis...

Soares is a manager you fu*king brain surgeon's!....He is going to say whatever he has to for his fighters!.....And Machida has the belt not Shogun....You should all be thanking Machida for being kind enough to give Shoogun another chance!

like machida had a choice to give a rematch or not ****. if the president of the company thought the challenger in this case shogun won ofcourse he's going to give a rematch no matter what machida says. he's not gonna have machida fight someone else when almost everyone except the hardcore machida ****s think shogun won.. and before you talk about the fight don't bother just wait til the rematch and see what shogun will do to machida. your obv someone who knows nothing about shogun's past and dominance in pride. and you prob hopped on machida waggon after he ko'd rashad before that you had no idea who he was.

Actually I like all of Black House and yes I saw what Shogun did in Pride.....This aint PRIDE!....so far in the UFC he has beat two old men....Got ***** slapped by forrest...and lost a close decision to Machida....Quit living in the past!...according to your logic Tito is still championship material.

Aldo/Faber was a completely different fight than Machida/Shogun. So was Griffin/Rampage. Though Aldo did use a lot of leg kicks similar to shogun, Faber just had nothing to offer and the whole fight was completely one-sided. Machida/Shogun on the other hand was a close and competitive fight. Griffin also used a lot of leg kicks, but unlike Shogun, he mixed it up with significantly more punches and takedowns than Shogun. I do beleive that leg kicks can win fights, but the common comparisons are iffy IMO.

I for one have been a Machida fan since he beat BJ, but you're right about that for the most part. But there are also a lot of Shogun fans who didn't know who he was before the Machida fight because they didn't watch Pride. You talk of Shogun's dominance in Pride and forget that Machida has never lost a round before that fight, is the least hit fighter in MMA, and has also dominated his copetition. Gomi also dominated in Pride, but where is he now? I like Gomi, but getting peppered with the same jab for 15 minutes is pretty embarrasing. Same with Co Cop. I like him too, but he's been on a serious downward spiral, but he dominated Pride. Pride's fighters were lower tier compared to today's fighters. Shogun is in a different game now, against tougher competition. Don't go off about Shogun's accomplishments, crediting them for why he will win without acknowlegding his opponent's accomplishments as well. Both are great and accomplished fighters, and that's what makes it a good fight.

Leg kicks are underated. Which is a same because when you watch a fighter wabble around after a fighter it usually ends in a entertaining fashion. Plus with the Aldo Faber fight he used leg kicks to set up a head kick, One of my fav. fights is Hammil vs Franklin just because Franklin picked appart Matt with thoes deadly kicks. Just adds a whole new dinamic to fighting...

i didn't say at one point that machida wasn't a great fighter. i respect machida's counter striking and skill. all i was saying is that shogun got the best of him the first fight. how is the 2nd fight going to turn out. to be honest i am not sure. but i am hoping shogun wins.

Aldo's leg kicks were much more devistating and Faber didn't do anything back.

 

Machida and Shogun were back and forth with strikes the whole fight, and Machida was not crippled like Faber was. Totally different!!

 

Plus I don't think Ed Soares cares if you like him or not!!

Legs kicks certainly can win a fight, but only when they are so damaging to your opponent that they knock them down/eliminate their ability to effectively stand up.

 

To compare how Aldo DESTROYED Faber with his kicks to how Shogun slowed Machida down with his is just ridiculous.

If EITHER fighter had OBVIOUSLY won the fight, there wouldn't be a rematch; and even if Shogun had taken the decision, there would STILL be a rematch.

 

It was a five round championship fight that was scored 48-47, no matter who you gave the win to.

 

Let's PLEASE shut up about their first match and just watch them fight again in a week.

Lmao to OP i thought exactly the same!!! what an idiot saying legkicks cant win fights... There are quite a few fights where legkicks have dominated the damage and also finished on occasion like jardine vs shall (i think it was shall). End of the day Shogun got robbed and he will avenge this soon enough:)

Yes he did, He could have said "**** off i am not fighting him". He's the champ and he can fight whoever he wants. They have no authority to make him sign any contract with anyone. They can give him static about other fights but they cant make him sign anything and ultimately its not like they are gonna leave the light heavyweight champion on the sidelines to try to teach him some lesson.

To everyone saying Shogun should be thankful Machida agreed to the rematch, ask yourselves, why would one accept a rematch? Machida didn't seem to be a proud champion the weeks after Oct. 24. If Machida really did feel be beat Shogun and disposed of him, why would he feel the need to give his opponent a rematch?

 

Or is it a rematch for himself? For redemption? If this were the case, then he would in a sense be admitting defeat.

he does but i'm guessing he was forced to sign this one. thats one contract he didn't have a choice to sign or not only thing he signed for is the fight purse.

 

Did Dana "make him an offer he can't refuse?"

 

Hold a gun to his head and say either his brains or his signature would be on the contract?

Maybe he agreed because fighters get a cut of PPV buys and he knows its gonna be a big **** pay day for him to beat Rua again. Ever think about that possibility? This is a job for these guys after all.

I did, but the way Machida first acted after the fight, he didn't seem like a proud champion, he looked like he knew that he didn't win. You even have guys on here always bringing up the point that a reporter asked if he thought he won, and he couldn't answer or something like that, or said that the judges did. And really, Machida doesn't seem to me like a money hungry kinda guy, I mean, he's gonna make money no matter what, he just seems like he wants to fight and fight the best and be the best
