I was thinking' date=' there arent many fighters in the UFC or in the whole of MMA who are actually world class in both areas.......... I can only really think of BJ Penn, Anderson Silva, Fedor and Maybe Nick Diaz...Any other suggestions and reasons why..[/quote']

I wouldnt say Anderson Silva's ground game is that good. Frank Mir has improved his stand up a lot and already had a world class ground game.

i agree GSP doesnt hav world class stand-up..dont get me wrong its very good but not world class, BJ Penn Has the best boxing in MMA according to Freddie Roach so i wud consider it world class. Silva does hav a world class BJJ game he is that good on stand up that he rarely gets to show it.Shogun is debatable but is very well equipt in both area's. Hendo has very good stand up and very good wrestling too.

While Hendo may possess more power, GSP's stand up is far superior

YEP

Just look at BJs fight with Diego Sanchez and KenFlo for the reasons why BJ is there on this list. Another one very well could be Frank Mir he has the best ground game in the history of the UFC (Fact most subs in ufc HW history) plus if you look at his stoppage of Nog or how he put Kongo on his **** his striking is right up there with the best

The only person who I would say is world class in both areas in Bj. His bjj and boxing are both world class. Anderson has a good ground game but I wouldn't say world class ' date=' Gsp has excellent stand up (when he uses it) but I wouldn't say it is world class either.[/quote']

Apparently anderson has a great ground game, you just dont get to see it because his stand up is so brilliant

I didn't say his ground game sucked. Just that it is not world class. He is a bjj black belt so he most defiantly knows a thing or two on the ground.

gegard mousasi and Bj Penn thats it mousasi is a beast standing up just look what he did when he fought Musashi in K-1 and his ground game for me is up there with the very best.we all know what bj brings to the table no one could disagree there

I agree with most of this, but Hendo does not have world class standup. He has heavy hands, but is sloppy in his standup. The reason he gets away with his sloppy haymakers is that he has a great chin, so he can afford to wade in swinging.

What about Gonzaga? He has one of the best BJJ in the world and he knocked out Cro Cop and rocked Carwin who are known for being 2 of the best strikers in the division IMO his striking is quite good. Also Brandon Vera has a great stand up and a great ground game.

Gonzaga i would agree is all around, KOing Crocop and rocking Carwin definitely gives him good striking.

Jr Dos Santos wasn't able to KO Crocop, so Gonzage could possibly upset JDS tonight.

Vera has good but not excellent striking, but if he wins tonite in striking and overwhelming fashion, then he might have exellent striking, and have an all around game.

Well Dos Santos destroyed Crocop for 3 rounds and made him verbally submit... I can see him getting a tko over Gonzaga tonight
