Don't Fear Paul Buentello... Fear the Consequences.

I know Paul Buentello has posted here before so let's show him some support. This is a big fight for him.. He needs this win probably more than anyone on this card, especially when the UFC has been known to cut fighters after a loss or 2.. He's taking on Cheick Kongo who is one of the top HW strikers in the UFC.

Paul Buentello brings it every single fight, he's underrated. I've watched some videos of his fights and as long as he's in the fight, he's throwing with everything he's got left, when most fighter's who are running on fumes would stall just hoping for the bell to ring. I feel like he could take this fight to the ground and win it there, but I think he's probably too stubborn and wants to put on a show for the fans. Only thing is, he's at a height and reach disadvantage, and against a top level striker like Cheick, that's not good. But Paul is no pushover, a beast of a striker himself, he could tag Cheick and drop him as well. This is a dangerous fight for both fighters, and if I was a betting man, I would stay away from this fight. 2 top notch strikers with KO power going at it.

I've been a fan of Paul ever since his post fight "fear the consequences" speech, where the crowd left him hanging, but he handled it well. I would've been like "F--- you all too then!" I know he's good friends with G_row and GB, and they said he's one of the most humble and laid back people you'll ever meet. Which made me more of a fan because he's actually good friends with members of this forum, that know him on a personal level and people I've had the opportunity to go to a UFC event with and watch live from some of the sickest seats in the house. So it's cool knowing he hasn't let the whole "I'm in the UFC" thing get to his head.

So here's a beer for hoping Paul Buentello takes home the KO of the night bonus tonight.

If you look in G_roww's fridge, I bet you'll still see some Keystone in there.. LOL. You left Memphis with so much damn beer. lmao

Well said AK. I agree. Kongo might have a height and reach advantage, but I think Paul has the better chin and is more aggressive. I got Paul taking the win.

Cheers to The Head Hunter!

I am really thinking that Kongo's concentration on defending the ground game is going to do him more harm than good, just like in the Mir fight.

Cheick is a smart guy, he knows that every fighter he faces knows he is like a turtle on his back, helpless, and is going to want to put him there. Even someone who is a traditional striker but is still comfortable on the ground like Paul will be wanting to go to the ground against the striker Kongo. So in the Mir fight, Kongo was set up to defend TD, and wasn't expecting Mir to throw the right. You see it all the time. Lesnar/Herring, Couture/Sylvia, and Mir/Kongo are the biggest examples that pop to mind.

So Kongo's best shot is to return to his K-1 roots, and work the distance and kicks. But his mindset is stuck in defending a ground fighter and the Headhunter should be able to get inside easily and work him over.

Kongo is the more tchnically skilled striker, but Buentello is the more natural scrapper and does have the better experience level.

Plus is he is a Texas homeboy!!

I got Buentello by 2nd rd TKO.

Buentello was at a height and reach disadvantage against Struve and he was catching him with some nice shots' date=' I thought he won that fight.

Come on Paul!!!! I hope he wins.[/quote']

Yeah same here.. That punch he landed when Struve tried to jump in was a thing of beauty.. Especially if you see it from the camera angle right behind Paul.. It was like his fist was a heat seeker. Landed perfectly on his chin.

Paul Buentello seems like a cool guy and all, but i have Kongo winning this one. Hopefully in impressive form as well. Think he has decent strikes, and should be experienced enough to effectively utilize his reach. Kongo is a much better striker than Struve is, so Paul definitely going to have a harder time landing those power shots. Get a win Kongo!!!!

I actually think Kongo is at bigger risk then Buentello. Maybe not because Kongo lost to two top 5 guys, but 3 losses in a row could probably get him cut. Buentello has the tools to win though and I really hope he does. He is underated and I'm not a big fan of Kongo who I feel is overated. I just hope we see a knockout.
