Buentello

He is tough, but he really needs to work on his take down defense. Also, He was allowing Kongo to back him up into the cage everytime knowing Kong was going to take him down. he should have stood his ground in the center and forced Kongo to bang

Wow. Dislocated finger, knee to the face and he taps from elbows to the thigh.

Paul made the mistake of backing up. Everytime Kongo just backed him into the fence and played like he was gonna throw then when Paul opened up he took him down.

If he could have stayed in the center he would have KO'd Kongo.

Wow... Kongo ruined this fight so far' date=' man I wish he fought like a man.[/quote']

If you are truly a MMA fan you would appreciate the intelligence that Kongo put into that fight. He knew Buentello had nothing but his boxing so he took him out of his element and owned him. That's what happens to one-dimensional fighters. Kongo wanted to make sure that he didn't eat a stray punch and lost this match. He had a perfect game plan to defeat Buentello and followed it to the tee with a win. That's just smart fighting. If you want to watch a competitiion where they "fight like a man", then watch boxing and be gone with you.

All in all that was kind of a dirty fight. Kongo was just trying to avoid any real fighting. He's good enough to be able to do that but when you factor in the knee it's not all that impressive.

Buentello needs to practice fighting smotherers.

In other UFC news is Dan Hardy a pirate. Im tired of hearing the guy say "Oye' date=' Oye" on the commercials.[/quote']

LOL.....Last August it was Kenny Florian's "I want BJ's belt" soundbyte. Once in a while they are going to find some catch phrase or comment from the fighters to add in the promos

I agree with the OP. Even though he hasn't made the transition from brawler to MMA fighter, I can't help but respect Paul for the person he is. Always good for a standup brawl but you can't make it with just that. I just hope that the pioneers(not an age crack) of this sport like the Jeremy Horn's and Mac Danzig's, who have sacrificed so much on the smaller circuits banging for their bucks and trying to support their families, can someday find a place after the sport. I would like to continue seeing Paul in the UFC and would like to hear how he sounds on a microphone.

Now I know I am not the only freak who likes the UFC in an unexplainable kind of way, and I myself would like to be able to donate to a Fighters Fund. I know it may sound dumb, but guys like Paul are what is good for this sport and I am sure many like myself would like to be able to contribute to the people who leave it all in the ring. Just my thoughts, no matter how cheesy it sounds. Thanks for being who you are Paul.

I think that Buentello showed a heckuva lot of heart. He was really trying to continue fighting, despite being overpowered, breaking a pinky, and more or less going against a much stronger opponent.

I hope he doesn't get cut, cause he showed a heckuva lot of heart in there, and he's always entertaining to watch. Please don't cut him UFC :D

Wow. I was pulling for Buentello because he took the time to post on the site but man.. Can honestly say that's the first time i've seen tapout due to elbows to the thigh/legs, that was embarrassing. He had a legit chance to put Kongo out on his feet he threw a couple hard rights that came out of nowhere when i thought he was done that made me go Holly ****.

All he had to do was circle instead of go straight back but for some reason that was just an impossible task.

Anyways bad things aside Paul if you read this i'll give you your props. I wouldnt even think of getting in a cage with bigass scary lookin mother ****er you have balls

agreed' date=' he was school-yard flailing his punches & thats the sign its time to retire, he also refused to listen to his corner as they pleaded for him to stop backing up ...[/quote']

Exactly. He looked more like a "Fedor era" fighter, as opposed to an elite competitor of today.

But I like his heart, after he shook off the hand injury I was pulling for him to win, especially since Kongo was fighting an annoying fight.

Cheers

Yawn, .. there is no modern-day multi-dimensional hw-mma fighter to draw a comparison, excluding Nogueira who Fedor beatdown twice (standing & on the mat) .. the last 4 UFC/ hw champions have a combined career submission total of 14, if you want to throw in dos Santos & Velasquez, the number goes to 15 ... Fedor has 16 career submissions & one-punch power as we've seen recently...

Again, your entire argument is based on 100% bs-speculation & Fedors' supporters stand

on the facts ...

Was anyone else screaming at the TV / Computer screen for Paul to try a Kimora? I was like you have it locked in full guard WHAT THE HELL!!

As for Kongo, well he did what he needed to win cant hate on him for that, he new pauls plan and took him out of his element.

However that being said, for Mike to constenly say to Joe "Kongo has vastly improved his ground game" every 5 effing seconds was painful to listen to it got to the point where I turned down the sound. Kongo has no ground game whatsoever, put him against a guy who CAN get nay FINISH a kimora and Kongo would have been out.

At least one here in this forum has some sense.

This is MMA, MIXED MARTIAL ARTS.

Buentuelo may be a better boxer than Kongo.

But Kongo is a better MMA fighter than Buentuelo.

Enough said.
