Too Old to go Pro?

This is something that has really been bothering me for a long time now. I really like MMA and I want to get into it and start training, however I'm worried about something. I need advice on this...is it too late for me to become a pro fighter and be successful because I'm 18 years old and I have no prior experience in martial arts during my childhood? I really want to be good at this but I'm worried that it is too late.

George Sotiropolous (sp?) started training in martial arts when he was 19....and his in the UFC now so the answer if no your not too old.

When I first read the title of this thread, I thought you were going to say you were 30 (like me) or similar.

There's time yet, like others have said, find a good team to train with and start kicking some ****. You should be ready for amateur fights before the year is out and you can take it from there.

i started @ 19 im 23 now and i fight professional events of course im not at the level of ufc yet..but theres proof for yourself that you got plenty of time. If you actually take notice many fighters make their ufc debut 25 y/o and up so just think you have 7 years to get there and youll still have a leg up on some others so good luck my man.

So you think that if I work hard and I put in the time and effort and that if I really believe that I can be successful' date=' the future looks promising for me in MMA.[/quote']

Lesnar waited until he was 30.

Lesnar is not a good example. most of the reason he is there is cus he was already an established and marketable name just like kimbo whos even older. That and the only other reason was due to his wrestling background otherwise hed still be sittin around doing nothing since the Vikings cut his ****. Other than that no other 30 year old fighter would probably be considered unless you were on a freight train to the title

I appreciate all of this feedback. I feel so much better, it is really a relief. This is what people around me had been telling me but I needed the opinion of MMA fans to truly get a grasp of this. This is really something that I want to do and I think that I can be good at it and I'm willing to put in the time and effort. Now, I just need to get started.
