Last movie I watched was the Descent 2. I watched it because I never knew they made a second one. The second one takes place where the first one left off. A crew is sent into the mountains to look for the missing climbers. The question is....how many of them will make it out alive? Muahahahahahaha. Meh the movie was ok

I have been meaning to watch Kick-****....but every time I put it on I am always wicked tired and end up falling asleep. Who knows maybe I will put it on tonight.

Another movie I saw recently is the Hurt Locker...Its about a bomb specialist unit in Iraq. It is actually a pretty intense flick.

The dude in Hurt Locker tries to pass off as a suicidal guy who doesn't care about life or whatever. Truth is, he's just badass. Bad-mother-****ing-****. Defusing bombs while smoking his cig.

Last movie I saw was Kickass, I thought it was more of a kid movie........... boy was I wrong.

Sherlock Holmes was the ****.

Agreed I loved it. Robert is awesome, Jude did well and Rachel is also very nice to look at.

Avatar in 3D after eating a mushroom chocolate was pretty intense. Long enough to actually start coming down by the end of it too. I get the feeling rewatching at home sober would not be quite the same though.

I'm a big fan of a lot of movies most of you have probably seen but I recently came across what is probably my favorite European film. It is called "This is England" (2006) and its set in like 1983 Manchester or Birmingham. Hard to tell and they didn't actually go into what city they are actually in. I'm sure someone from the UK would be able to tell much better. Anyway it has a slow start and at first I was questioning if it would be any good but it did enough to keep me around until another older character is introduced into the movie after getting out of prison. Then thats when it really takes off. I thought the acting was solid as well as the writing. Obviously considering its 1983 the fashion is terrible but they did a great job showing it lol. Check it out on the imdb if you want to watch a trailer. It scored high with a 7.9 overall rating with most people giving it 8, 9 or 10. I doubt a trailer could do it much justice tho as the ending is what really grabs you.

heh yeah I kinda feel the same way. I was in space until the humans started blowing them up and then it really changed the mood of the movie. I remember what happened for the most part though as I timed eating it so that it would hit me as I was getting to the theater and as a result was coming down the last hour or so. 3D was solid for Avatar. I haven't seen Clash of the Titans but a friend of mine told me the 3D in it sucked especially compared to Avatar and he suggested just watching it at home on a decent plasma or LCD in 2D would be better. I think they are starting to go a bit overboard with all these movies in 3D. I know its where the money is but if you are not going to do it right then don't do it at all.

The last movie I've seen was Karate Kid 2. I bought Old Boy today and will watch it later. Also rented The Men Who Stare at Goats (I think it's called that, or atleast something to that effect) with George Clooney and will watch that on Xbox Live.

Technically though, the last *ahem* "movie" I watched was Never Ending Asians, disc 4. Didn't quite make it through the whole thing though heheh. :P

Avatar. I like to consider myself in the 3D industry, but when I see this, it blows me away. Its like having wayne gretzky, roger federer, micheal jordan, lebron james, ichiro, ronaldino +the next 500 best athletes, working for 5 years together to make 1 project.

These guys invented new camera, new tech, they worked with nvidia to build their own graphics card and render farm system. I read cameron pulled a dozen of the brightest minds, gave them 2 years and endless fund JUST to figure out how the **** theyll pull this off.

They built over 3000 plants lots with their own wiki, nothing, i mean nothing was left to chance. and they STILL cut 40% of the movie out.

heres some specs for you guys

movie had 1852 shots

1818 had CG

some of the larger shots use up to 50 BILLION polygons(to put that in perspective, in a video game[what i work in] if you have 50,000 on your scene at once, youll start seeing performance issues, of course this is run time but still)

used 4352 render machines

34,816 CPU cores

and 104TB or ram lol

some scenes including 1 specific shot took over 2 years to make.

James Cameron is known for being very hands on with any camera thats not on a crane(and im sure he likes controlling the crane) so since this movie was 80% in an entirely 3d world, they rigged a camera with a monitor, and somehow you could tell this camera/pc where you were in teh world, and the distance conversion rate, and as you would walk forward with the camera on your shoulder, in the cameras monitor you would move accordingly in 3d space, giving each shot a more FILM camera cinemetography, rather than animating the cameras in your 3D application.

And when i hear people make fun of the story hahaha i just laugh and figure 'haters gotta hate'
