Career Mode Undisputed 2010

Anyone else tried this?? It's pretty cool. You start off amateur, then fight a bunch of wimps until you get noticed by the UFC. Training is way tougher than the first game, and you have to make some decisions. You can either train to build up your strength, cardio, and speed stats or spar to gain some skill points in different areas like striking, ground game, etc. Also, you can go to camps and learn different moves.

If you have tried it, how far along have you got? Feel free to post anything: what's your character like, who you've beaten, and maybe give some tips or helpful advice.

My character's name is Rondo "The Beast" Solo

I'm currently 11-0. Mostly just a LHW boxer/muay thai specialist

I've KOed Tito, Chuck, Coleman, Bonnar, and some others I don't remember.

My next fight is Machida, and the difficulty level just skyrocketed after 5 or 6 UFC fights.

Rich Franklin had the belt??? LOL

How did you beat Machida? I seriously think they made him way too powerful, it's like the computer is cheating somehow. I've fought him at least 5 times, and he still keeps pulling super cheap wins out of his ****. It goes like this:

1st fight: I totally dominate him standing up for about 2 min, he shoots, takes me down and instantly submits me.

2nd fight: Again, I'm beating him at striking, he takes me down. This time I manage to get him off me and stand back up. He takes me down again, again I get up. This happens about 2 more times and then he submits me in 2 seconds.

3rd fight: I try to be more cautious, but still whooping him standing up. Manage to get to round two, I've already hurt him a LOT in the first round. Doesn't matter, I land nice, solid blows to him and he takes them - turns around and knocks me out with one kick.

... I just don't know what to do. All my skill points are really low because I haven't sparred enough, and my submission defense really needs a boost. I'm starting to think I have to lose this fight, and work my way back up again. It's funny cause' I played exhibition with my character and knocked him out at the same difficulty.

Ok, so I guess everyone is playing online and no one is playing career...

ANYHOO - The Machida A.I. is seriously busting out the 1337 Hax on me. It's gotten to the point where I think the game is forcing me to submit, and lose. THE GAME WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO WIN. No matter how hard I try - over and over again Machida pulls an amazing feat out of his butthole and either submits me instantaneously or KOs me. If I could rename this thread, I would call it "The Never-ending battle with Machida."

8th Fight or so (I lost count): I'm winning the first round easily, my stand up is wrecking Machida. I've scored tons of punches and kicks, he's cut above the right eye and bleeding from his nose. Round 2: I get some good clean shots on him, uppercuts and hooks - but he hits me with one little elbow and knocks me out.WWWWUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!@#!#$%@

9th Fight: AGAIN, I am totally dominating stand up in the first round. Leg kicks, Leg kicks, Leg kicks. I feel like I'm Shogun for a little bit, I kick him in the legs anytime he moves forward. I then throw a mad flurry or punches, I hit him a bunch with hooks and uppercuts. I beat him up some more in the first round, 2nd round he comes out and takes me down. Insta-Submission, I can't stop it....

10th Fight: I DESTROY him the entire first round. I knock him down once with a punch, let him up and proceed to hit him with numerous head kicks and punches. He hardly even touched me that round. 2nd round comes: I throw mad punch combinations, even land 2 or 3 solid head kicks. What does he do? He counters with ONE weak left hook and knocks me out. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AAAARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I keep resetting the PS3 so I can try again. I don't want to take it, but I think I'm meant to lose this fight. Maybe it's fate... No, it's Destiny. I have to lose this fight, so I can grow stronger and get my revenge on Lyoto later. MMAAACHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIDDDAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No one else has tried it?? I think it's one of the better parts of the game myself.

This coming from a guy whose online key code doesn't work, so yeah...

I finally gave up and accepted the loss from Machida. Seriously, it was like fighting Superman. He had a chin made of steel, I couldn't crack it even after pounding on his face for a solid round, and knocking him with head kicks and uppercuts in the next. That's not all, he has an unstoppable takedown, you don't even clinch or have time to try to stop it - he just rushes at you headfirst and takes you down instantly. The submissions were just as bad.

I'm definitely going to need to spar all the time, just to get my ever-decaying stats up. That's so dumb, whoever thought of that needs to be kicked in the nuts. lol

this made me laugh

but not out loud

why do you need a key code to get online? all you should need is Xbox live(this isnt a statement, i just mean that is stupid).. i've heard alot of complaints about this game.. i'm still considering picking it up.

downloaded the demo for xbox live.. i've beat machida quite a few times on "Expert" difficulty, but then again that is with Rampage & Shogun. I can see it being near impossible with a less developed rookie fighter in career mode if its that realistic.

You need a code to activate the online portion of the game. Yes, it's dumb I know.

Yeah, my character has really weak submission defense and other skills right now... You'll see how it is. It's not easy getting that many skill points early in the game, unless you spar all the time. But you can't do that, because you have to split up the time between training, sparring, and learning new moves, and resting throughout.

i didn't play 2009, so i don't know the differences between the games...but 2010 career mode is cool...

on another note...in my career i am LHW champ with 6 defenses in a row and I just beat Cain in the champion v champion (counter head kick)...when Dana told me to choose to continue as a LHW or a HW, I chose HW, but i was never given my next opponent...

so now I am in career mode and all I can do is train/spar...is there a way to get an opponent at this point? is my file screwed up and I might as well just start over...i'm in year 9...

also, anyone know how to maintain top control in open guard...it seems they kick twice and I get stood up and Rogan says "he let him up", when i had no intention of doing so...

if i'm in the top spot in open guard down, i can never seem to posture up...if i do get to posture up i get kicked off immediately...to stay in open guard up, i just need to block a transition?

When Im on top I try to throw 2-4 punches then go for a transition, it seems to work for me.

also after reading the first part of your post are you in down position or up, IE hands on the chest or by his sides?

I have an easy time beating machida. I just use the strategy that he uses. I love the sway back counter left hook.

i do a normal double-leg shot and end up hands on the side, with the guy on the bottom holding my neck down preventing movement...

do quarter roles with the right stick till you can get your hands on the chest. Actually you can do quarter and half roles to transition to half guard down, full guard up, and side control, I just preffer full guard up for GnP

the thing that sucks about it most is after a certain point you almost can't do anything but spar because your stats decay so fast..i try to build up a reserve of points but when you get so high they just deplete faster and faster..seems almost impossible to build a decent fighter that way

ok so i made myself a Fedor

i tore up the HW division, winning the title and all and i got the opportunity to move down to LHW so i said yes

i had 1 fight in LHW and won and the next opponents it gave me to choose from were all HW's so i figured i was back up in HW.

but ive been beating everyone and never got a title shot, so i looked at the rankings and im not even ranked in HW but im #2 LHW but i cant fight LHW's it only gives me HW's but never the title shot at Kongo (haha)

so basically im a LHW fighter killing HW's and never gettin my shot

is this a glitch? someone help me out here

This feature is cool. I started off as a LHW and moved to HW after defending my LHW title a bunch of times. I had to fight Cain Velasquez in a champion vs. champion match and won. My record is like 41-5. I take my losses like a man. I have a pretty good fighter.

I pretty much set a routine. Spar until fatigue is 100%. Try KTFO your partner by running at him as soon as the match begins and hitting him with a left or right hook. Hold L1 (for ps3, which I have) and spam elbows as fast as you can (Just on one side though, for example I only use left elbow most of the time so it would be Hold L1, sq, sq, sq, sq, sq, until KTFO). Rinse and repeat each time the match gets restarted and you have yourself hella sparring points. I usually KTFO him twice in one sparring session and rock him a 3rd time just as the 2 minutes are up. If you don't get hit too much, and he doesn't block your punches a lot, you will have hella points.

The key is speed though because punches in bunches are the most effective when using this method. After KTFOing my partner and having my fatigue at 100%, I rest once, train Strength, Speed, and Cardio (Cardio works speed up as well, so use Cardio, Intense to get both of these up in one.), rest up in between them, spar one more time, and go to the fight. I haven't really learned any new moves though because I feel as though I don't really need to. Just got some SH like Shoguns left hook and Lyoto's Right straight, and a couple of Head Kicks. They are effective enough for me haha.

Hope this helps.

I haven't gotten 2010 yet, but 2009 was cool...until you're on fight number 32 in career mode(on Xbox)...after #32 it retires your fighter...??...I was like.."WHAT?!!" started a new career and 32 fights later, retirement...hope 2010 gets rid of that part...did anyone else encounter this? Does this happen with PS3?

I have PS3 as well. The only problem I have right now is the AI submits me easily with almost anybody. My submission defense is capped at 70, I guess that's not enough. I can wreck anyone standing, my flying head kicks/mad hooks, uppercuts, and elbows = win.
