i know what Sonnen is doing is part of the "getting mentally ready" and trying to be confident that he can actually win this thing, but i mean come on everytime he trash talks about Silva i can't help but think how bad he is going to get knocked out and made look like a fool.

 

i hate you Dana White for giving Silva a fight where i can't help but be pulling for him, because i so bad wanted to see him get his head knocked off after last fight, maybe next time....

I hate Sonnen he is garbage and is hyping himself up all his wins via decision the guy is not a champion material, i understand you all want to see a upset but lets have a real champion take the belt no a guy that will lose the belt on his first defense. well then that just means someone else gets to hold the belt also then.. so really its not so bad it creates more match up's possibly

 

Me too and I actually think Sonnen has more of a chance than people are giving him credit for.

i think he has the best chance of any against silva... (would of went with hendo, but he tried to strike with silva.... fail... and wether it was his back or not... shields showed him how to wrestle)

hendo won a round against silva with wrestling....

sonnen is just going to wrestle for 25 minutes.... dont see to much standup from him

 

sonnen is more likely than hendo to get subbed AND KO'd i think....

but sonnen has the more solid gameplan by far.....

 

if he can take silva down, keep him there without him not getting strait back up at least.... (i think he can....)

he is in the game, has a better shot at the gold than anyone else has against silva

That's what is fun about this. Many people don't see Sonnen winning or even having a chance. I can see him doing to Silva exactly what he did to Marquart, who IMO is a better wrestler than Silva. Yeah Silva could sub Sonnen and yeah he could KO him, but in my mind there is a real possibility that Sonnen could control him, wear him down and beat him up for 25 minutes.

LMAO exactly what i'm thinking, you saw the switch Anderson did on Nate? Anderson on the ground is just as dangerous people hear this all the time but they don't believe it because they rarely see it. People that talk a lot rarely do much. Sonnen is trying to make a name for himself because if a miracle occurs.

The only over-hyped diva i see is Sonnen what has the guy done to earn a name for himself? Absolutely nothing, now yeah Silva embarrassed himself with his last performance but take away the 3 decisions he has in the UFC and you have a guy that finishes TOP fighters in devastating ways, now i can see where you will argue with me but don't say Sonnen is a better fighter just say you don't like Silva and you wan't him to lose because bringing in Sonnen's skills into this argument will prove nothing because this guy has never finished a fighter.

Altough I think Silva will Rip his head off in the first 2 minutes, if Sonnen's chin can take some shots he could frustrate Silva.

 

I mean Sonnen toyed with Okami like noone has and Handled Nate like no one has (Silva's Ko excluded). and those are two high level fighters.

 

All i can say is that the Guy is not afraid of Anderson like his last 3 o 4 opps.

 

That's the story with most of the champions, Like GSP for example in his last couple of title defenses none of the contenders took the fight to him, Geez i even tought Alves had a chance but he just got scared to make mistakes and got all extra carefull, same thing with Thales Leites and Maia.

 

Sonnen will take the fight to Anderson because he actually has no doubt he can beat him and either he will beat him of get Koed fast, the only guarantee of this fight is that Anderson wont dance around like he has in his previos fights.

i cant stand sonnen, after koscheck and lesnar hes easily the most annoying guy in the sport. im so excited to see him get knocked out old by silvas knees. and if sonnen does succesfully take silva down, hes gonna get chocked out.

DEATH TO SONNEN SILVA!!!!!!!!!!!! SHUT THAT MANS MOUTH!!!!

 

maybe silva will break his jaw for running it so much haha

 

this fight wont be like maia or leites. imo silva will want to go out there and kill chael for all his trash talking.

You just want to see a champion that likes to lay on other men the entire fight like GSP and Fitch. GSP will lose AGAIN before AS, so if you want to see an upset wait for another champion to lose. I'm still waiting on GSP to man up and fight Silva, I waiting on him to call Silva out. It's not going to happen just like someone taking the belt from Silva anytime soon, not gonna happen.:P

Sonnen will dominate the fight, but Anderson will finish him.

 

Lutter and Hendo both exposed Anderson's vulnerability when he comes up against a decent wrestler. And in both of those fights, Anderson was forced to finish his opponent or risk losing on points.

 

Anderson has only lost 2 rounds in his entire UFC career (if you exclude the rounds against Maia and Leites where he was just clowning). And both have those rounds have been pretty much the same. Anderson comes up against a good wrestler, and gets taken down and held down. This is the exact method that Sonnen likes to use when he fights.

 

People are quick to write Sonnen off. And the fact is that if he gets caught then its over. But I can see him winning a round or two before he gets finished.

oh yeah.... cause obviosuly this long after, when chael is going to fight anderson on the ground..... he definitely wouldn't do any bjj defense practice eh? jeez u guys looks at past fights it all depends what the are coming with, and i honestly think Chael is going to come way hungrier and just grind it ou like he did against nate

So you want to see a lay n pray champ! HAHAHA I love it when people think wrestling is the answer to beating Silva. Could you imagine if all the UFC champs were lay n pray wrestlers? Ratings would drop fast.

Toney is working on his takedown defense, do you think he will be able to stop couture's takedowns ?

 

Sonnen won't be able to LNP for 25 minutes without getting sub.

I'd bet on Sonnen in a 3 round fight (odds should be around +400). 5 rounds is a long time to hold a guy down.

 

Sonnen has never been KO'd in his career. I think Anderson will either win via sub or lose via decision. I'm not seeing the big KO.

BJ Penn is one of the best MMA JJ specialists in the world, but all that did was prevent GSP from getting a full mount during their second fight. Just because Silva has it doesn't mean it'll beat Sonnen as long as he's smart, pays attention to Anderson's movement, and keeps good posture.

 

Then comes the issue of a five round fight. As most wrestlers have demonstrated, they are cardio machines. If anyone can go a hard five rounds, it's a wrestler. So I'm sure Sonnen can do it. Not sure about Silva because none of his two five rounds fights were very "hard".

 

I think if Sonnen comes into this fight smart, avoids most of Anderson's shots, takes him down, and keeps that strategy the whole fight and not pull a Hendo thinking "I'll strike with him the second round", I believe Sonnen will be declared the champ.

How can you compare Sonnen with GSP ?

 

Sonnen is just a LNP wrestler with probably a disturbied life, the biggest win in his career was against marquardt, and he still left the octagon more damaged than nate.

True. Sonnen isn't GSP. But GSP set the perfect example of how to beat strong BJJ with wrestling. Sonnen just needs to wise up and use the same tactics. If he does come into this fight smart and well-prepared, I think Sonnen will win.
