Dan_Hardy_
Don't Know If This Has Been Brought Up Or Not. UFC Light Heavyweight Steve Cantwell Cleared To Fight Again After being forced out of his scheduled UFC 108 fight against Vladimir Matyushenko due to undisclosed medical issues, the future of UFC light heavyweight Steve Cantwell's career was in question. Not only was he denied a license to fight but at the pre-fight press conference for that event, UFC President Dana White said that, whatever the medical issue was, it could be serious enough that Cantwell may never fight again. Now five months later, word has finally emerged that Cantwell has been reissued his license to fight by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, although, the nature of his medical issue has still not been revealed. The executive director of the NSAC, Keith Kizer, told MMAJunkie that the issue arose during standard pre-fight medical screening. "What [fighters] have to do is they have to go get a physical, blood work, eye exams and all this other stuff, and have their doctor sign off on it then send it all in," said Kizer. "I guess on one of the medicals, and I'm not going to get into what it was, he was having an issue getting a clearance on something." Cantwell's manager, Nick Blomgren, indicated to MMAJunkie that their was never an actual medical issue, just a mistake or misunderstanding. "Steve proved (to the NSAC) that the problem was not true," he said. As for when Cantwell will next compete, Blomgren says that the UFC has been informed of Cantwell's obtainment of a license but no word has been issued yet as to when or against whom Cantwell will next see action. "That's up to Joe Silva, but I'm sure it will be soon," Blomgren said. "I think he is just glad he got his license. [He's] glad it's resolved and just wants to move on in his career and fight."
