Jon Jones future LHW champ

Recommended Posts

I really see Jon Jones being Champ in the near future. His only loss was DQ. But all of his wins & even his loss he looked unstoppable. This guy is gonna go to the top & stay there in the top mix for a long time. What do you all think?

would really love to see him & Anderson get it on. That would be up there with Brock vs Carwin (which I think is the biggest HW fight in ufc history).

def got potential but he hasnt fought anyone yet. dont think he could cope with top 5 yet

Brandon Verra isn't getting much credit. But that is saying something when you totally dominate him like Jones did. Look at the trouble Couture had with Verra. Also look at how bad he beat Matt Hamill even tho he lost due to dq.

I do not agree with this at all. It's definitely the most hyped but I wouldn't say the biggest in UFC history. If Brock Lesnar is able to retain his belt a few more times we will probably start seeing the biggest HW fights in UFC history. I still think it's too early for both of these guys to be get such a prestigious label.

That's because Brandon Vera is a complete joke when it comes to actually making a splash in any division. Vera has always been overrated.

I agree. He is overrated. But he still has great takedown defense. another reason to look at the trouble Couture had with him. Jon Jones put him down & straight up whooped his ****. Mark my words. Jon Jones Future champ.

The biggest fight in ufc history to me. Everyone has their most anticipated fights to see. Well this is mine. That's all I'm saying. I don't expect anyone to feel the same about this fight. A lot of people wanna see Brock & Fedor. I want to see Brock & Carwin. Been wanting to see this for a long time. Back before Carwin was at the top. Just like I want to see Anderson & Jon.

Think Franklin vs Jones would be a good way to go for their next fight. Both I would say aren't top five material yet in LHW, but this would be a stepping stone for both to get into that mix if they fought.

No' date=' he will end up getting submitted by Griffin or T Silva and this hype train will come to a hault.

Count on it.[/quote']

I don't see him getting submitted anytime soon. Haven't you seen his grappling? Matt Hammill is an awesome wrestler & look at what he did to him. But I think Forest might be able to outstrike him & take the win by decision, but if it goes to a clinch early, Forest would get ko'd.

Hamill is not a submission specialist, i'm telling you Jones is going to get submitted and the hype train will stop.

he is surely a very unique striker with alot of potential, that being said everyone thought machida was unstopable until he met rua for the 2nd time. I can see him as a future champ after 1 or 2 top contenders.

Yep.

The only legitimate contender Brock has beaten was Mir.

We've yet to see him against nearly the entirity of the top talent at 265; time will tell.

^^^This.

The UFC has a bad habit of throwing rookies in with the big dogs too early when they start to get a lot of hype so after he beats Matyushenko Im guessing they put him in with a top 5 fighter like they did with Rumble and hes gonna get beat down. He'll put up a good fight but hes gonna get beat down.

Jones definitely has problem with leaving his arms in.

That being said, he is really strong and explosive, and as we saw with Hardy against GSP, that REALLY helps.

Forrest certainly could sub him, but despite the MASSIVE amount of hype I've heard about T. Silva's ground game in TRAINING, come fight time it hasn't really appeared to exist.

this...but also, i'm not sure when he would get the belt...cuz many of the current top contenders are not going anywhere for a loooong time...and I don't think he is close to being at the skill level of any of the top contenders...

Don't count Vlad out he's a really good fighter and has only lost to the cream of the crop [except a SD loss to Vernon White]

Yea T Silva's ground game has been pretty weak, I don't know if it was because of the injury but it was definitely lacking.

You've got a point I shouldn't be counting Vladdy out yet but I just see him being too old and slow for Jones at this point.

He definatly will be relevant to the title possibly by the end of this year. Will he become chamion? Who knows. Lets see how he does with a Machida, Rampage, Evans, or Shogun before we get carried away.

So far so good for Jones. He's keeping very active and taking baby steps up to the top. If he keeps improving and tightens up his game (mainly bjj and standup defence) he will have a bright future, no doubt.

I cant knock him for what he's done so far. He's took a mature and dedicated approach to his training and lifestlye and looked very good in the cage

I don't by him being a champ until the current guys age alot. He doesn't strike like shogun he doesn't have takedowns like Rashad. If he fought machida he'd get ko'd. Shogun, ko, Rashad lnp, rampage ko.

I think after his total domination of Vera and Hamill he is already top 5.

I think him v Evans or Page would be an awesome fight.

I think his striking power/speed and his wrestling are more or less on a par with Evans with his GnP being a bit better. He is less experienced though.

I suspect he would just Gnp Thiago.

Although the top 2 are a cut above the rest in LHW, his style matches up well vs Rua (who is awesome in all respects but one at the moment - hits hard, great technical striker, chin like a rock and great BJJ - but his TD defence is so so at best and Jones would slam him to the ground for sure ) -I don't anyone in the division is anything but a dog to Rua (at least so long as Anderson isn't in it), but I think Jones has a decent chance of GnP'ing him out.

Ironically I suspect Jones' worst match-up of the top 5 is Machida (if his head is still together) as he could stand with him and is such a beast to get down.

No point in giving him any opponent outside top 5 or 6 IMHO - he would murder them...I really thought Hamill was going to get killed in the ring due to that stupid referee...

I didn't say that I said he doesn't have takedowns like Rashad who was unable to take machida down.

Vera did TKO Frank Mir and go the distance with Randy Couture.

I think Jon Jones will be top 2 or 3 P4P fighter in the world in 3 years.

P4P in three years

1.GSP

2.Aldo

3.Jones
