Mirko4life
Sambo or Jeet Kune Do. Why? Because it is basically MMA. Both are martial arts designed to work in any dimensions. Jeet Kune Do was actually intended to be MMA by Bruce Lee, because a martial artist practiciing Jeet Kune Do wouldn't say he practices exclusively that, but rather all martial arts. Sambo is basically the same. Both martial arts take what is efficient of other martial arts and leave out all the flashy stuff that is just for demonstration. bravetab
Good ol Boxing. A good foundation is necessary to become a great striker. Every other skill, including wrestling and BJJ can be used to supplement, but if you are a great striker you got a good advantage.

UCFMRE
If I could only have one style it would be wrestling because numerous pure wrestlers have had success in MMA. Wrestling and minimal BJJ defense is all you really need to have a long successful career in MMA. Obviously, the more styles you can master the better but wrestling is the most dominant style in my opinion.

res0
I don't think it matters the style as much as how hard you train. A. Silva has done well with Muay Thai against Wrestlers.
