NCAA is the national collegiate athletics association. They oversee pretty much all all competitive college sports and set the rules.

Division 1 is supposed to be better wrestlers than Division 2.

Example: Brock= Division 1 Carwin=Division 2

Is that what you wanted to know?

Is that just expectation though because these larger schools can fund thier wrestling programmes better?

Using Carwin/Brock as an example, would they ever have wrestled or were they just seperated because of the size of their school?

Now i said supposed to have better wrestlers. But in the Carwin Brock fight Carwin actually stopped some of Brocks TDs. But i'm not sure if the wrestler or not. I only do it at my high school.

D-1 is regarded as the elite of NCAA sports and is generally the most competitive in terms of skill and being able to get on a team. D-2 just means a lower level they still have athletic scholarships, but typically don't recruit the best guys, since they naturally go to a D1 school.

Wrestling actually starts in high school, its a requirement for males in their physical education class to spend some time on wrestling (at least in california), you Brits should do the same so everybody gets exposed it.

There are around 1200 schools which belong to the NCAA in America. They are divided up into divisions according to a number of things, but mainly by the number of students attending.

Larger schools have more alumni which makes them more attractive to TV and advertisers, so their athletic events are more commonly broadcast on TV. D.I schools make the most money from TV and other athletic events, so they have more money for scholarships. This leads a great many people to assume that the best athletes automatically attend Div I schools for exposure and a higher likelihood of moving on to the pros.

This is of course not always true. I can make you a list a page long of hall of fame athletes, coaches, and teams from each major sport that came from D.II. If you look at the Olympic roster the vast majority of athletes are from D.II. schools. In any given year, a few million kids will graduate high school. Among them are a few hundred thousand student athletes divided up among all the sports. It is totally conceivable that a pretty good number of outstanding athletes fall through the cracks of recruiting for the D.I powerhouses and end up in smaller schools.

Right now, of the top 5 HW freestyle wrestlers who would make up our "National Team", 4 are D.II wrestlers. Shane Carwin could have been a D.I athlete as well but chose to go another route because first and foremost he wanted a quality education and degree, and he wanted to wrestle and play football, which he couldn't do at D.I schools.
