Plus he doesn't want to get caught again like he did against Serra, everyone knows it. Look, it took him SIX fights after his first title shot to get another one. Then in his first defense, he gets ****y and gets finished. Then he didn't get some immediate rematch, he had to go through two great fighters to get another shot at the belt. He's not going to give it up this time, even it means playing it safe. So I would just have to say don't watch his fights anymore, but you can't blame him for fighting the way he does. Face it dude your facts are ****, if you don't like decisions then thats your perogative but I've watched a hell of a lot of epic fights that went the distance, including ones with GSP. If anything, I give him more respect, the welterweight division in the UFC is quite possibly the most stacked division in mixed martial arts. Any and all of the top 10 WW (eg. Fitch, Alves, Koscheck, Swick etc.) are all hard to finish. In all his competition lately GSP has barely ever been in a bad spot in any of his recent fights, he wins by controlling his opponents and outlasting and outmuscling them while constantly inflicting damage. I would argue that no other MMA wrestler is more active in top position. Do you remember Fitch's face? Do you remember BJ quitting? Anybody with less heart than Hardy would have tapped, and Alves and Fitch were beatdowns. Personally I love watching a one sided GSP beatdown for 5 rounds, you might think its boring but in the end theres no doubt who's the better fighter. One looks like he got hit by a Mack truck and the other barely looks like he broke a sweat.

acdoubleu
If going the distance automatically equals boring, then the legend of all legends Randy Couture is like the Mr. Rogers of mma. I'll agree I would like to see GSP finish more fights, but consider the level of talent he is fighting. Guys like Kos, Fitch and Alves (Hardy is overrated) would all be respectable champs if not for GSP being a step above the rest. Look up some of the after fight photos of his recent opponents, their battered, swollen faces suggest they were in anything but a boring fight. He never lays in the guard and rests.[/quote'] It pisses me off when people call GSP boring because of his wrestling and ground game, If you hate HIS ground game then you might as well watch boxing cause you obviously dont understand MMA. -Rarely misses a takedown -Constantly stays active -Always looking to advance position -Constant punches and elbows even from half-guard/full guard -Amazing base, rarely gets swept, rarely lets his opponent up unless by choice -Still looks for submissions but rarely loses an advatageous position when attempting one -Effective in any and all ground positions face it, he's top of the food chain in GnP and with a little more refining his submission skills could easily be among the best in the division. All that brings me back to my main point, if you were an opponent of GSP what sounds worse to you? A) Getting TKO'd or subbed out of nowhere 30 seconds into the fight or Getting dominated, manhandled, pounded on, elbowed, slammed, reversed, punched, kicked (repeat) for 5 rounds. Take a look in the eyes of anyone who has gone the distance or close to it with GSP... its a look of utter despair, of feeling absolutely demolished, that your best effort doesnt even belong in the same room as him. That is what I call an effective win.

PRIDEneverDIED
the only real reason why GSP is "boring" is........ FACT: theres a lot of UFC fans that dont understand all aspects of MMA(including decision wins). I dont find GSP boring at all, any fighter/Champ that can go the distance obviously is in good enough shape and trained hard enough to go 25 minutes in a MMA match. i think the fighters he fights are boring for not coming with a good enough game plan to beat an amazingly talented and strong fighter..... Reaper413
Yeah going the distance doesn't mean GSP sucks. He isn't really thta good any more because he wants to keep holding the belt. DKF
People on this forum consider themselves MMA fighters because they saw it on TV, and beat some dumbarse in the street with it then joined a local "BJJ gym". I love guys that walk in like im the "full package", "ill kick anyones butt." I'm positive that 60% of people who claim to be mma fighters actually are. I'm not an MMA fighter, im a fan of the sport, im 17 years old wrestling in high school, and have been going to a B- BJJ/sub wrestling gym my whole life, I dont get on the forums saying I'm an MMA fighter because my MMA record is 0-0 as im sure at least 40% of wannabes on this forum is. Dont take offense to it, the point im trying to make is that just because you say your a fighter doesnt mean we take what you say more seriously. P.S. If i tried to join some jr. MMA thing im sure id do alright but I would be a ground finisher, my signature move would be the jon fitch beard scratching submission, and the GSP dry humping submission, and the **** to face backwards triangle. hehe

Johny_Cage
Theres a reason why GSP is the golden boy of the UFC. Elbows. Thats probably why he didnt fight in PRIDE. Alot of wrestlers avoid PRIDE simply because elbows were illegal and also very cheap on the ground. Plus removing elbows leaves more option for subs. Elbows are almost a dirty tactic. Tito, Couture, GSP. never fought in PRIDE. Plus if all you do in pride is lay on top in guard and punch ineffectivley, you get stood up and possibly yellow carded for lack of action.. Even Hall of Fame wrestler and ground and pounder Mark Coleman got owned in Pride. You cant just lie op top in guard and elbow. (Gonzaga vs CroCop). It makes the fight more even.
