He's already cleaned out the division, if he wants a challenge he'll need to move weight classes, otherwise it's going to be an endless parade of rematches and unworthy challengers for him. Bigmacbub
Cannot consider AS the greatest unless he moves up and proves himself. BJ's done it thats what you do when you've cleared out your division. Dont get me wrong AS is a spectacular fighter.
wimpygimpet
Ok then look at how they both did against Forrest Griffin! Look how Silva did against Takase. Before you say that was years ago let me remind you Griffin/Shogun was years ago aswell.
wimpygimpet
Machida had 2 chances to prove that theory right. And Machida is an amazing counter puncher. I'd say better than Anderson. Machida has KOed actual strikers and made them look dumb. The only time Silva makes people look dumb is when he fights a grappler.
joshdfs
Look how Silva did against Takase. Before you say that was years ago let me remind you Griffin/Shogun was years ago aswell. Uhhh, bad example, Silva was pretty much dominating Takase before he swept himself into a triangle. Shogun can't really say the same. He wasn't getting beat up, but Shogun was not dominating anyone. But yeah I considered Forrest's win a fluke and think Rua would beat him 9 out of 10 times. But I still think styllistically Silva is the perfect foil for Shogun, and Silva wins that fight 9 of 10 times.

joshdfs
And Machida is an amazing counter puncher. I'd say better than Anderson. Machida has KOed actual strikers and made them look dumb. The only time Silva makes people look dumb is when he fights a grappler. So I guess Franklin, Leben, Cote, Marquardt, Irvin, Griffin looked great against Silva? EVERYONE Silva has faced has looked dumb. Chonan got a win by getting beat on and rolling into a heelhook on Silva's broken foot. Takase got a win by getting beat on until Silva made a mental lapse and rolled himself into a triangle. Okami had to get KO'd to win. My point is EVERYONE, even in pyrrhic victories, was made to look stupid by Silva. And the argument that Silva is just a counter striker is kind of played out as well. Again, go through his list of opponents and ask them. Much of his offense has started from counter striking for sure. But his most damaging strikes have always come from being first offensively. How is a spinning back elbow uppercut a counterstrike?
joshdfs
Silva wins 4 times out of 10. And he wasn't dominating he was getting controlled. Oh come on "Shogun Fan", any fan of Shogun and PRIDE would know that type of wrestling "control" in Japan meant next to nothing. If the time limit passed before the sub, Silva would have won on damage done, even it it was from bottom. He was elbowing Takase's dome all night and had his face pretty swollen. Weak attempt there.
