anderson silva vs chael sonnen-

round1: pretty much a warm up round for both fighters, anderson delivers some good unanswered strikes, and the round finishes with a take down attempt from chael, then a take down.

round2: both fighters now at full pace, after eating more strikes, chael shoots for a powerful take down, anderson is on his back for the 2nd time, chael gets a few good shots on, but nothing major, anderson sinks in the triangle choke.... tap out..

anyone with me?

I'm with you. I just said in a different thread that if Sonnen takes Anderson down he will get submitted via triangle or armbar pretty quickly. Sonnen isn't great at looking out for the submissions as seen by his 70% loss by submission rate.

Silva is very hard to read, but I think he's one of those guys that are really silent when they are most upset and you heard that silence before the storm at the teleconference. At the end, Chael Sonnen felt it too I think. His words towards Silva were more pleading than relaxed and non-chalant as he usually fires them. Furthermore, the hesitation in his voice when he said he's going to whip Silva's **** at UFC 117 showed to me that he didn't even believe it. But hey, maybe I'm just imagining things because I want Anderson Silva to win, I'll be the first to admit I'm bias, but for good reason, compare the statistics.

Really? You reeeeeally think that?

You obviously haven't been watching MMA long enough to realise the quite obvious stylistic differences between Rich Franklin and Chael Sonnen.

I look at your signature and it completely nullifies any intellectual comments you attempt to make as far as predictions go....just sayin'

comments like these bug me. he made a point and you dodge it and make an irrelevant point. I understand what you mean, but you didnt counter his original argument.

He asked a rhetorical question and then added some common sense "two different fighters have different styles" (no one could have guessed that)...No answer was warranted...

And he wasn't asking me, so I wasn't obligated to respond...

Those inbred drooling halfwits aren't even worth arguing with.

I don't think there are many people around preaching that Sonnen will win the fight other than deluded Silva haters. I happen to think that Sonnen could win the fight if he can take Silva down like was able to with Marquardt. If he can take him down consistently, then we all know he's gonna go chest on chest and give away minimal submission opportunities.

I think that Silva will probably win the fight. Either Sonnen will just have a lot of trouble taking him down and end up having to stand with him, or Silva will uncharacteristically flurry at the start of one of the later rounds and finish him off. Despite Sonnen's loss record, I don't think he's gonna sub Sonnen off of his back.
