Wrestling Future...

Alright, bare with me right now. I know I'm going to make some off of the wall statements, but they aren't entirely IMPOSSIBLE. What if a year from now, wrestlers run the UFC and hold all of the champions? What if they take control of all of the divisions and the sport of MMA as a whole. Imagine:

HW: Brock Lesnar

LH: Rashad Evans

MW: Chael Sonnen

WW: Georges St.Pierre

LW: Gray Maynard

* Note: MW is assuming that Silva retires or beat Sonnen and then Belfort and leaves the UFC.

Aside from that, all of the other champions are well within the realm of possibility. I, for one, will not be watching the UFC if this happens. This will end the sport. Wrestling has been around for centuries, there is a reason it does not have a professional league. The reasoning is not because the athletes aren't extremely talented and dedicated to their skills, it's because it isn't very interesting to watch. (This is coming from a wrestler. I LOVE to wrestle, but I can never watch other people wrestle. It's like golf or hockey, it's fun to play, tough to watch.)

That said, I hope that people figure out a way to counteract the wrestling aspect of MMA or new judging is added to reduce stalling from top and bottom. I figure after two minutes of grappling, the fight should automatically be stood up following a takedown, regardless of positioning. That's just an idea. 1/2 a round per round is plenty of time to ****.

Jui Jitsu matches often go 15 plus minutes. You might as well just make submissions illegal. 2 minutes is no time to work at all.

this is possible.......only if Shogun and Machida both retire, Anderson Silva becomes a break dancer and BJ just quits

I was going to say "What about GSP." But then I remembered...unfortunately. I too, am tired of watching LnP matches. Don't give me that OMG you're not a fan of ground then, go watch K1 SH. I like watching people fight, advance positions, go for subs, etc. Not this just lay on him and maintain the dominant position til the bell rings SH.

I think you should stop watching the UFC now. People act as if wrestling is in the same category as using steriods. Its an aspect of the fighting game, can be countered. Nothing should be changed due to a current theme of fighters using it with success.

Well, part of the reason I watch the UFC is because I want to see fighters do what I can't do. I want to know which fighter would truly F* someone up, not which fighter would hold the perpetrator down until the authorities arrived. I have enough wrestling experience to do that, I guarantee... That doesn't mean I'm a good fighter because I can absorb some blows and control the fight on the ground by staying chest to chest.
