Mirko ?CroCop? Filipovic will be stepping in for an injured Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 119, Fighters Only can confirm.

We broke the news of Nogueira?s withdrawal earlier and can now confirm that Filipovic is the replacement.

Nogueira?s injury is undisclosed at this point but a Brazilian source tells us it is one that requires surgery and is not an recurrence of the staph infection he suffered around the time of the first fight with Mir.

Filipovic?s inclusion in the UFC 1109 headlining fight was notified to Fighters Only by sources close to the event. It will be the first time that the Croatian legend and former PRIDE FC title challenger has fought Mir, a former UFC heavyweight champion.

He has fought two former UFC heavyweight champions in the past, going 1-1 with Kevin Randleman and 3-0 over Josh Barnett while fighting in PRIDE, the Japanese promotion which once rivalled the UFC in stature.

UFC 119 is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on September 25, 2010 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event will be the first that the UFC has hosted in Indiana.

Cro Cop will TKO Mir in round 3, Mir's "highly improved" striking just consists of him throwing the same damn 2 3-punch combos, straight left-right uppercut-straight left and straight left-right hook-straight left. If I can see he's just doing the same punching combos over and over again then I know for sure a pro fighter with striking skills like Cro Cop knows it too. Shane Carwin even tried to do a straight right hand counter punch when Mir tried it on him be they both missed their punches. Even though Cro Cop doesn't have the talent and abilities he once had his striking is still plenty good enough to put Mir away, don't forget, he did go to round 3 on the feet with JDS. Mir's only chance is a submission but I think Cro Cop's takedown defense is better than Mir's takedown offense.

God damn it why couldn't Mir be the one that got hurt?

Then we could have seen Nog vs Cro Cop II and we would have gotten the satisfaction of knowing Mir was hurt.

War Cro Cop

Damn, what did Mir ever do to get someone wish an injury upon him, it's not like he ever wished death on someone.

+1 to this lol

Mir has bad takedowns, Cro Cop has great TD defence and Cro Cop has the much better striking so if it stays on the feet Cro Cop will either outpoint him to a UD or he might catch him and get the (T)KO

the real question is which Mir will show up? The one who stopped Kongo and Big Nog or the one that got decimated by Carwin and Lesnar? plus i'll be interested to see how heavy he will be

I don't know what Mir did to get all this hatred from people. he has given his life to this sport and is a very intellegient guy, listen to him when he commentates for the WEC. I got Mir winning by TKO in Round 2. And then Mir will fight either Couture if he stays at Heavyweight after the Toney fight or the winner of Gonzaga/Shaub or the loser of the title fight.

Mir will be champ again.
