MountAndDo
the truth about james toney is he's a world class boxer. the fact that he doesnt have KOs should prove to you more that he's a technical striker, not relying on knockout power to win his fights. in all likelihood, toney will be overwhelmed and smothered with gnp or submission. but randy has to get it there first, and i doubt randy would be conscious if he eats a couple of shots from toney. in vegas i would pick toney in this fight because he's a huge underdog and the chance is good he'll hit him at least once, but if my life was on the line i'd pick couture. Oh yeah, and he got a UD against John Ruiz. Oh wait, that win got overturned, and is a NC due to the fact Toney was juicing, lol!

Try 5'9" (i know, just being silly, but how did you get 7'5" I'd understand if he were 5'7") I can name a bunch, here goes : Joe Calzaghe - 69.57% which would have been much higher if he didn;'t keep busting his hands up. David Haye - 88% Which wont drop too drastically if it doesn't climb as he'll be retiring in the next few years. Ricky Hatton - 68.09% Nigel Benn - 72.92% (Who Toney ducked if you ask me) Amir Khan - 70.83% Would love to see Amir train up in MMA and cross over, but he's making too much money right now in Boxing, and wants to build a legacy. Manny Pacquiao - 67.86% The boxer I would most love to see come into MMA, but alas, will never happen. Mike Tyson - 75.86% Wladimir Klitschko - 84.21% If he ever agrees to a reasonable purse cut for Haye to fight him he'll improve Haye's % Lennox Lewis - 72.73% All the above are also far more credible fighters than Toney As for Toney's 2 losses in his last 9 fights, he had 2 NC's, one of which as a result of him using banned substances in a Championship fight, which should really have been 3, as he got caught AGAIN after his fight with Danny Batchelder, and only managed a split decision. 2below
Toney has only fought 19 times in the past decade, as opposed to 22 fights in 1989 and 1990 combined.. a 2 year span. There's no doubt that Toney has slowed down with age (he will be turning 42 before their bout). He was a wrecking ball when he was in his prime. Yes, he didn't fight the best opponents, but that still means he was a hell of a lot better than most of he boxers out there in his hay day. As for his boxing career, he fought 3 big names in my opinion. RJJ, who he lost to. The Real Deal, who who beat, Evander was getting on a bit, but Toney is only like 4 years younger than him, so props to him on that one, and John Ruiz, who he got the decision against, but tested positive for roids after the fight, so it was overturned to a NC. He should have fought the likes of Eubanks and Benn, but he ducked those fights. I'd love to see him try and fight Haye, then everyone swinging from his sack would just use his age for the reason he went to sleep! However, feel free to tell me another top level fighter Toney ever fought, as you clearly know so much more than me. For the record, I respect Toney's boxing, but the fact is, he aint that great at all.
CarwinDemoMan66
Randy never fought a can. Randy has fought more real names than James Toney has. In my opinion' date=' Couture has had 4 times more real fights.[/quote'] You don't understand how Boxers are made. Boxer's dont go 12-0 like Shane Carwin and get title shots at the whos who of their division. They build their records up with hard work and dedication. Some guys get title shots when their 25-0, or even higher or maybe a little lower. Boxers don't get thrown to the wolves in only 10 pro fights. Thats not how Boxing works. Boxing you need twice as experience as you do in MMA to be successful. Theirs various different styles and fighters that you'll face and you need to be prepared for any style. As for Randy fighting more top competition, I do agree. But Toney held titles at Middleweight,Super Middleweight, Light Heavyweight, Cruierserweight, and now Heavyweight. Can't say alot of Boxers do that. It's not his fault the champions he beat didn't go on to become "known names". He fought who was on top at the time. Just because you haven't heard of someone, doesn't make them a can. The champs he beat just didn't get any recognition later in their careers.
