If he would tran his cardio more he would be unstoppable. JDS is definitely the next HW champ IMO. Thoughts?[/quote'] his cardio is ****, and his ground game isn't up to par(if nelson got one takedown and laid on him for a little while he would have gassed by the 2nd) if hes wearing out all of his energy to stuff takedowns....hes to predictable thats his weakness...everyone should know by now if you take him down you'll probably have your way with him....especially if your on top so he has a few weaknesses in my opinion. just like Anderson had great stand up til he ended up on his back for close to 25 min...luckily he could get the submission we dont know if JDS can so thats another weakness especially against someone with a good/great ground game. OranJuice
His flaw is that he's One-Dimensional. He only strikes and he only throws his hands. He really doesn't have good takedowns. He got a wounded Roy down twice but couldn't keep him down. His TDD has been good up til now, but he hasn't faced a wrestler like Brock or Cain. Hopefully, it's for real because he hasn't proven himself on the ground.
iNOOB
JDS' only flaw IMO is that he needs to keep his hands up more when he is standing and striking. He keeps his hands relatively low and just willingly takes some punches to the face. His cardio is fine. He landed over 130 punches in the 3 round fight. That is averaging over 40 per round. He was just starting to get gassed at the end of the fight. So, thats not too much of an issue. He can easily work on that.

ShanePatrick
his cardio?! that is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a while! If anything it's his size, which will make him susceptible to getting taken down. His cardio seemed just fine in the Nelson fine. Not only did he continuously throw a lot of punches, but he kept good movement for all 3 rounds.

Guys like brock and shane have such a huge advantage over the average heavyweight in terms of size, so a 240 division would be perfect for so many guys. Alot of guys who fight HW are too small for the division but are too big to make 205.
eyeball
jds has superb hands, but needs to mix it up a bit. start throwin more kicks. he also needs to put on some weight if he's going to compete with the likes of brock...

I don't know why people think JDS can beat lesnar, I mean the dude is good, but lesnar has a he'll of a chin. Lesnar's stand up is trash, but he won't needed if he ever fights JDS, lesnar would just charge in and jds will have nothing to do. Cain has a better chance because of his wrestleling, and I think he will beat lesnar, but JDS has a very small chance.

If it wassent for the cage, nelson would have gotten the TD, and in his fight with Gonzaga, gonzage took him down, but JDS stood almost right back up, but Gonzaga only tried one TD,that wont happen with Brock,he maybe can stuff a few TD?s but definitly not all of m, and when he hits the ground, its GnP time for good ol Brock

You're kidding right? JDS has no problem with size, he's just pretty one-dimensional in his game... but it's working for him, so no complaints here. I would be terrified of those fists if I were Brock/Cain because he is going to stuff either of their TD's all night long.

CarwinDemoMan66
He's not going 2 stand a chance at Brock or Cain. Brock will just use his chin to deflect all of JDS's bombs until he gets a takedown, then its over. Cain will use his superior cardio and play as a Boxer/Puncher. Gonna land some nice combo's, then later probably shoot. On the ground JDS is outmatched by both. Basing his TDD off of defending a few Nelson takedown's is nothing. He's going to be fighting real wrestlers that are going to hold on until he falls over.
2below
Unless you're playing Tekken I'm not sure how a leg kick would KO anyone. Or if you're Joe Rogan's mind... a leg kick KO is possible But seriously, I do agree that JDS needs to widen his spectrum a little bit. Everyone knows his game plan going in to each of his fights: stuff takedowns, throw punches, win. it's working now, but he can't be a perennial champ if he doesn't utilize his legs and get a fool-proof ground game. Sixshoota
Yeah, he could use a little cardio work, but he also could pace himself more though too. joshdfs
Wow, sometimes I wonder.... That fight showed nothing but good things about many areas in JDS game. It proved he has deadly hands, both power and accuracy. He had Roy Nelson shook up more than Arlovski ever did in their BS Elite XC fight and that one got stopped. It proved he is intelligent and understands pacing when he recognized he wasn't going to get the flash TKO early on and pulled back enough that he didn't over exert and end up in a Carwin-esque state of lactic acidosis. It proved that his cardio questions are answered when he was still on a WW pace in the 3rd round and had enough juice to block TD's from a 260 lb guy with world class grappling credentials. And it proved that the now overused mantra of "all you gotta do is take him down" is much easier said than done, and even if you do there is no gauranteeing he will be any easier to deal with. I whole heartedly believe JDS will be HW champion of the world one day.
