Jon Jones and Ryan Bader: Who is better?

I know mma math doesn't work but jones tooled someone (hamill) who beat bader's biggest win (jardine). Bader only has one good win, jones has 3 (4 if you count hamill). I have no idea how anyone can have Bader in front of Jones.

I like both fighters a lot so please don't say i'm nut-huggin'.

Poll coming..

Bader needs a few more fights to prove himself' date=' seems to have good potential tho.[/quote']

Bader needs to prove himself? When he KO'd Jardine he was still in the top 10. Jones hasnt even fought a top 10 UFC fighter. His first chance to do so he ran away like a scared *****.

If you gunna count Bonnar and Vera as good wins for Jones you may as well count Schafer and Marrero as good wins for Bader :) Id say all 4 fighters are around the same skill level. Its hard to say who is better atm, i think in a fight Bader would probly take it just because his with his build it would be hard for Jones to whip him around the way he has been doing to his other opps. Also, i think Bader would be smart and just try to take jones down right away like Matyushenko should have done :)

trust me.... you are underestimating him.

We'll see, he is about to start fighting some better competition. I have a feeling someone will figure him out. Could be similar to what we seen with Sonnen, someone with no fear and willing to take the fight to him. See how he responds to pressure.

I think it goes something like this. They are both great talents and possible future LHW champions. But Jon Jones has fought wrestlers they thought would wreck him, and he wrecked them in their own game... so no one knows how good he really is, his potential is really limitless. I believe the last time we saw Bader he had a brawl with Keith Jardine, who is no longer even in the UFC, so i think we can see the limit of his potential.

Bader has proven more to me then jones ATM' date=' he is fighting lil nog next for a reason.[/quote']

Jones is headlining events for a reason, the UFC knows he's the real deal. He's doing interviews on ESPN, was the first interview on UFC insider. Vera was pretty highly ranked in their fight. Hamill at the time was pretty highly ranked and Matyushenko was considered a very good veteran with great wrestling and all three were utterly destroyed. Jones will be champ and a lot sooner than people think.

Although Bader is good, Jones posses a LOT of problems for him. Great wrestler who could keep it on the feet or probably take Bader down. And those HELLBOWS of Jones are going to win him a lot of matches. Jones also has the most strategic coaches and the best training partners in the game.

Im thinkin Bones hasnt had the test of a top level competitor. Griffin seems to be a great fit for Bones' next opponent. Either him or Thiago Silva. Bot will be the test he needs to see if he is as good as he is hyped up. Both are going to lose in the next two or so fights anyway. It will be the last loss before they get a shot at the belt. The best thing for both of them by the way. These guys are both the next mega stars of the MMA world. They will change things in the next couple of years Im thinkin.

Someday, someone will take advantage of the way that Jon Jones positions his limbs on the ground and will catch him in a sub. That's when we'll really see him get tested. That said though, you can't argue with the speed and brutality of his performances as of late. O'Brien, Hamill, Vera and Vlad were all tipped to be big tests for him and he's finished them all without much effort.

Neither guy likes unbeatable, but if I had to pick a winner in a Jones vs Bader fight, I'd go with Jones at this moment in time.

Bader has been winning fights' date=' Jones have been annihilating people.

Quite a difference, isn't it?[/quote']

That just shows a stylistic difference though. Thiago Alves has been finishing people his whole life, Jon Fitch has been grinding out decisions for his entire career. We all know how it went down at 117 though.

I agree that Jones is the better fighter right now, but I can't see a real cap on either fighter's potential, so I wouldn't be hugely surprised if Bader turned out better.

Bader has better skills' date=' Jones has the better body.[/quote']

WHAAAATT? lol.

Moves that Jones uses EFFECTIVELY

Spinning Elbows

Spinning Back Kicks

Elbows from the top

Crucifix

Suplex (Bonnar fght)

Bones even faked a TD and hit Bonnar with a spinning elbow.

To say Bader has a better Skillset standing or on the ground is Ignorant at best. Bones is the most Creative fighter in the UFC.

Let's be honest, the real reason Jones is headlining the TV events is because he has a lot of hype and is on a cheap contract. Bader has a TUF winner contract and therefore is too expensive for the free cards. Once Bones signs a new deal (I believe he only has 1-2 fights left on his current one) he'll be on the PPV cards exclusively.

As for who is better, Bader is slightly further along in his career, he's already beaten one top 10 guy and now is fighting another as the co-main event of a PPV. But I feel that Jones has more potential. It will be really interesting to see where things sit in the LHW division a year or two from now.

Really, how has he? I'm a lil'nog fan but what has lil'nog even done in the UFC to prove himself?? So whats it matter if he fights him...

Jones is more hyped then Bader, but he did crush Hammil and Vera. Better then anything Bader has done so far.

Jones > Bader
