he is not doing a good job...infact its gone from one extreme to the next...the whole swear filter rubbish is a joke....i mean if thats what they deem banable offences yet let spam/troll threads with no substance flow like taking a piss after 10 beers then they arent modding this forum correctly

they are banning the best posters on this site.....and making marders of us......but we always find a way back on here...great job defsteve

When people sign up to the forum, they agree to abide by a series of rules, wether they bother to read them or not. For a long time, the mods have been lenient, and people have continually abused this leeway. Wether we agree with the rules or not is irrelevant. The fact is, after people have ben given an inch and decided to take take a mile, the mods are enforcing those rules much more diligently now. And if people didn't break the rules, causing more work for the mods, then they'd have more of their, literally, free time to sort out the shopping spammers, who, although annoying, are probably deemed less offensive than the reasons people are getting banned.

Right, I'm off to see a stage production of Georges Marvellous Medicine with my son, and a theatre full of hyperactive precious little sugar bombs, so I've vented, and can go without dark thoughts of rage spoiling my afternoon!

Oh, and I do appreciate defsteve!

I'm not starting a new thread for the sake of one question, but as it's specifically for defsteve, I'll put it here and hope he catches it.

Certain words can bypass the swear filter as they clearly aren't considered as offensive in one country as another. Would the continued use of these words (which I won't print, just in case) result in any sort of ban?

Type the word out fully without use of any filtering (asterix). If the forum filter puts asterix instead it is deemed a swear word.

if it doesn't, it isn't.

And I get what you mean....

I have used one before, and seen another used, and they both got past the filter, but I won't use them now. To do so would be like giving haribo to a hyperactive child and telling him to calm down and sit still 15 minutes later!

And therein lies the problem.

The 'best posters on the site' should be aware of the rules by now. If they avoid the swear filter they get a temporary ban.

I am not going to be 'lenient' based on a members post count or join date. It really is black and white.

And the 'Report Post' function should be used to report any offensive or troublesome threads.

If I upset anyone in the process, I can live with it.

i hope you are not a traffic warden in real life... the way the power goes to your head you'd be even more unpopular :P

But seriously, if you think that the ability to delete a thread/posts and temporary ban someone from a forum in the hope that it allows the majority of users to use it without harrassment or trolling, etc means I have 'power', well.........

I am MC Hammer.

And the ban hammer.....you can't touch this :D

Not being funny' date=' but I'm known as the hammer round these parts! Now let's not make a problem between us. (Mainly because you can ban me for as long as you see fit, and all I can do is whine and moan! It's a one sided fight at best):)
