I think is means quite a bit. I know when i wrestle someone who has beat me previously it makes me want to go out and beat him a lot more.

Opinions?

Yes, motivation is very important when you compete. With that motivation it is important to keep your composure and stick to the game plan

Motivation starts in the gym. Motivation to train harder than your opponent, to go the extra mile, the extra round, etc. while at the same time being careful not to over train and burn yourself out. You want to be peaking as the fight approaches.

Motivation can be a great thing if you bring the right attitude into your training and train smart and hard not just hard.

Once that cage door closes though being motivated doesn't mean a whole lot. You shouldn't be thinking much when you fight but feeling, acting and reacting.

You have to come in with a blank slate forget about everything and live in the moment. You can have a game plan but be ready to adapt on a moments notice cause chances are things never go exactly as planned so you have to be ready adjust for when it doesn't and that all starts in the gym.
