how big is GSP there? is he kind of a big deal?

I met this girl while on vacation in ohio who was from Canada. I think she said toronto, I already don't remember. anyways I was going to ask if she knew who GSP was but decided I might end up looking stupid and didn't. does the average Canadian know him?

in America i'd say the biggest name is chuck liddell and there is no way the average person knows him, let alone a female.

oh I did not bang this girl or try to

he isnt on the news or anything.

if you dont watch UFC you likely will not know who he is regardless of if your Canadian or Korean.

hes not like sexyama or chael, he isnt a soap star or a politician.

all he does is fight in the UFC so if you dont watch you likely dont know him.

(unless he ends up wrestling for us in the olympics)

You are pretty much right. I live in Quebec and he is big here and the Ottawa area, definitely bigger than in the rest of Canada in my opinion.

I think Crosby is more popular than GSP in Canada.

Well, as big as MMA is and rapidly growing in popularity here, it is nothing and will never be even close to touching hockey.

Sidney is pretty much a national hero...but nowhere near as much as Gretzky. Crosby is still relatively new. I think Gretzky has actual God status here. ;)

On the political side, it would be Pierre Trudeau...humanitarian, I would think Terry Fox.

Ya, he's a pretty recognizable figure in Canada. He's won the Canadian Athlete of the year, two years in a row. Lobbied government in Ottawa to get MMA sanctioned in Ontario, which just recently occured and he's on sportcentre a lot. Put it this way, if you watch sports in Canada, you know who he is.

The girls that work at bars, know that if he's fighting the place will be packed for every one of his fights

crosby is def more popular than gsp here, we are a hockey nation, pretty much any white person you ask (not trying to be racist, just lots of the time our immigrants don't care about our sports) will know about hockey, and therefore, crosby

i live in sask and even to the people who know about mma, mostly can only remember chuck liddel
