Why don't they just create a special league for guys who dont really want to strike? Guys like GSP and Fitch can go there and determine who is the best at hugging other men on the ground.

It's called the Abu Dahbi Combat Club. A lot of guys in the UFC have competed in it.

/Thread and hopefully the stupidity of hating on grapplers.

why would they do that when they dominate in mma?

Because its called mixed martial arts. Yes I do find GSP and Fitch to be boring, however wrestling is part of the sport and it is really dominant. You cant blame em for using it. My suggestion to you would be to go watch K1 or Boxing. They could really use the support

Why can't guys like Alves, Hardy, and Daley learn how to wrestle in order to counter it and keep fights on the feet for their knockouts? Why don't they just create a special league for guys who can't cut it in MMA and just want to stri--oh, right, K-1. What's that? Someone say something about boxing? Huh, how novel. Wouldn't have ever thought of that.

Wrestling is the best form of martial arts. I wrestled for years and Ive used it in many fights. Next time you get in a fight such as a bar fight.. Do a double leg take down to a ground and pound...Youll have more respect for wrestling.. Just make sure the scumbag your smashing doesnt try to grab your balls..It seems that the people that dont know wrestling are the gay ones. They always resort to trying to grab your balls when they're getting beat down.

GSP is right skill beats size.. most of the time..within reason.

I see where hes going with this, it is incredibly boring to watch GSP or Fitch LnP their way to a UD.But this is MMA and some of the greatest wrestlers like Matt Hughes and even Sonnen are incredible to watch on the ground, but on that same note Sonnen proved that you can take someone down and keep them down for a whole fight but if you cant finish then youre wrestling skills are kinda useless...unless you're a LnP artist like Ortiz or GSP.

If you go for a takedown in a street fight prepare for the back of your head to be met with many kicks and bottles... you've never been in a street fight be honest

I like watching the ground game when people are really trying, but i dont want to see ****s like fitch who doesnt even try to finish it.......

All you people criticized Anderson Silva for not trying to finish leites or maia, but how about fitch? He doesnt even try, he admits it, he wants to bore out a decision "victory"... Why is he compeating at mma then? Go compeat at wrestling if you only want to wrestle. This is MIXED MARTIAL ARTS not wrestling

Some people might say that jab-contestants ruined boxing, well i can say that lay-n-pray-contestants will ruin mma, i mean come on, how can you even cheer for fitch "Yeah hold him down and do nothing"? People say its a chess match, well if it is its a stalemate then and besides if i would like to watch a chess match i wouldnt be watching mma event

FYI

MMA stands for Mixed Martial Arts

adj.

1. Blended together into one unit or mass; intermingled.

2. Composed of a variety of differing, sometimes conflicting entities: viewed the change in management with mixed emotions; a closet full of mixed outfits. See Synonyms at miscellaneous.

Martial arts: are systems of codified practices and traditions of combat.

Maybe I am missing something, but can you please explain to me what martial arts Jon Fitch "mixes" when he fights?

I just went to wiki and saw that his last 8 fights went to decision. He's a snooze fest for sure but you need to be able to beat him by

1) Training your guard and you get 3 chances to KO him

2) Train your BJJ and make him tap

what makes this so hard?

He has good BJJ defense and he mixes his TD with strikes. Watch the Fitch vs Alves 2 fight.

so yeah he's mixed martial artists in my book, a very boring but still it's his opponents obligation to come up when a better game plan/skills set.

He is very good at what he does, cant argue with that. Here is my beef, by analogy:

1. The Detroit Pistons were good a few years ago. But nobody wanted to watch them because they were all defense. The games were like 68 - 70. Not exactly fun to watch.

2. Imagine going to a baseball game, and one of the teams keeps bunting the ball and getting base hits. Maybe the other teams sucks and cant get them out when they bunt, but I dont want to watch a bunt fest. The occassional bunt, or even frequent bunt would be acceptable as a fan, but when the team bunts over and over and over and over...that would get a little irritating as a fan.

3. Football. What if the QB was able to do a 2.5 yard QB sneak every play, and the other team couldnt stop it. Would you want to watch 4 quarters of that?

okay so if the fighters a one dimentional ground fighters hes a mixted martial artist,

but a one dimentional stand up guy is just a striker.

well' date='Pat Barry doesn't mix martial arts but i bet that u haven't problem with him[/quote']

Fighting is about finishing the other guy and he has no problems on achieving that. All of hes fights has been finished there were no need for the gay judges and thats how it should be. It doesnt matter if you are a stand up or a ground fighter as long as you are trying to finish the fight by all means.

Point fighters ruin fight-sports and mma is no exception. I loved the fact in pride that the judges had more weight on who came close to finishing the fight rather than who "controlled".

There are some boring ****s in the stand up game also, wich i dont want to see such as houston alexander's vs kimbo or kalib starnes vs nate quarry... It doesnt matter what your discipline is as long as you do everything to finish the fight. I watch mma to see fights, not some bums laying on the ground or some ****s running a marathon
