Hate on James Toney

Why all this hate on James Toney, he's a confident fighter heading into a fight. There were plenty of people who were perfectly alright with Chael's trash talk before 117 but the second James Toney says anything you all get mad. If it were Randy Couture going into a boxing fight it would be different, but Toney is the one leaving his comfort zone to accept the world of MMA and be a part of it. It's his pride on the line not yours.

I guess the big difference is that Randy would never go into a boxing match with Toney.

Its because MMA fans simply dont want to hear any MMA Bashing. When Toney said Boxing is better than MMA people call him dumb, but when you got the whole MMA community saying MMA is better than Boxing they think their right. MMA is relatively new to alot of people who never ever followed boxing in their lives yet they know everything.

Why?

1) He's disrespecting not only the sport, but proven contenders and champions in the sport

2) He's not taking MMA seriously. He feels that because boxing is soooo superior, that it'll simply not be a contest. He is in for a major wakeup all. I doubt that he'd get such revile if he had trained to become well rounded and purported himself professionally

3) He's an over the hill has-been. Yes, he was a great boxer and yes, his striking (hands) skills are still likely light years ahead of most anyone in the UFC, but he's a pudgy delusional egotistical loudmouth with a major speech impediment. It's hard to like him or take him seriously.

I'm sure I can go on and on, but I'd REALLY like to see a top ranked CURRENT boxer, who gave up boxing-only and trained to be a well rounded fighter, and then entered the UFC. Now THAT would rock. Someone who can showcase some elite level striking skills to compliment their athleticism and growing skills groomed by serious trainers in the various disciplines.

What I would love is if someone like Toney (or even Toney himself) trained up and coming (or even current) UFC fighters in the sweet science. Incorporate it into the MMA game and raise that bar. Now that would be awesome.

But this is a carnival act. Sadly.
