It's probably due to when ISO (International Organization of Standardization) was established. This groups itnroduces to the system of all companies that all things must be Documented.

And we all knows that your company will not survived if they are not ISO certified.

But.. why do you feel like there was a need for that? In farming we have tractors now, but some still use Mules;)

I blame the media for making us all paranoid.

You are correct, the media is good at that, but some of it could be caused by the actions that others took adn the media jsut presented it? If so, why do you think society has changed so much over the years?

I Have no problem with media reporting facts however todays media does hype things up to make it look worse than it is which can leed to a self fulfilling prophecy.

I don't think there is any 1 thing that as made society go the way it has but a combination of a lot of things.

The major issue i have with society today is a lack of personal responsibility & Personal accountability, most people are to quick to blame others for the problems in their lifes and not put any of the blame on themselves.

People are more insular and isolated now than ever before. Technology has made it so face to face interaction with others is at an all time low. People go to work, go home and lock themselves in their houses until it's time to go to work again. Interact over the internet, text messages, email, facebook but rarely face to face and even interacting verbally over the phone is less and less.

The day of the handshake deal is long past because you never meet the person that actually makes any decisions anymore. To financial institutions your are nothing more than a formula. Any loan decision now is made by a computer not a real person.

The other big reason is people are much more mobile. My grandparents bought their house shortly after WWII when they got married. They lived in that house until the day my grandfather passed away 50 some years later. My grandfather worked for the same company for 40 years. They knew every single person and family that lived around them on a first name basis. They had block BBQs and family gatherings all the time. Someone new moving to the area was a big deal and was greeted by the whole block.

Now 10 years is a long time to live in one place or work for one company. No one cares to get to know anyone unless they are pissing you off with loud music or something.

I remember watching sat morning cartoons with my sisters and arguing over who's turn it was to get up and change the channel. I remember when that choice was a total of 3 channels.

I remember when our Tandy TRS80 was cutting edge technology and you loaded games off a cassette tape.

I remember when from the age of 6 my Mom would send me on my bike to the corner store 20mins away and not worry at all about child abduction.

Yes' date=' con artists. People found that it is easier to make money illegally and immorally than getting a job and working hard for your money.[/quote']

There have been con men and "snake oil" salesmen around probably since time began or maybe even a bit before;). The difference is now a days people don't want to work for anything. Our society now is all about the "quick fix" and instant gratification. Be it get rich quick, lose weight quick or whatever.

The con men are just more successful now because we let them be with our laziness.

The media is the same situation. They know 99% of people can't be bothered to know the real story. People feed on sensationalism so that's what they report to get ratings and ratings sell advertisements.

"Triple Homicide in Gang shoot out" gets ratings. Reporting that gun violence is down 18% over the last 5 years doesn't. Our politicians feed us the same tripe. You get votes by scaring people about the other guy and the average person eats it up.

The Industrial Revolution came.

I'm not going to get into a discussion about it however, been there, done that far too many times, opinions are far to strong on the subject.

You either understand where I'm coming from with it, or you don't. However, that really is the simple answer to the question.

A night out for my family like that? No less than 70 dollars.

WoW, I wish $70.00

Went out for my birthday to a nice restaurant and dinner. $180+ tip for dinner another $45.00 for the movies and popcorn.

And yes, it was my b-day but the money can out of my wallet.

I should ask that in the ask the ladies thread. What's with the whole "mine is mine and yours is ours scenario."
