I liked it only because the fights actually meant something for the most part (KenFlo/Maynard=For Title shot) (Randy/Toney=MMA vs Boxing) (BJ/Edgar=Title fight). Maia and Diaz fights were pretty good to watch (if you didn't like the Maia fight then you probably just don't understand grappling tbh).

The few good fights got overshadowed by wrestlers with no other skills. Miller vs. Salter was a good fight, but I am still to this point not sure if Miller is really just an average fighter, or Salter is better than I thought...I know that Miller beat him, and kind of dominated, but I would have expected a faster finish. The Diaz vs. Davis fight was good. Diaz impresses me a lot more at WW and reminds me a little more of his brother there. Maia vs Marando(spelling?) was a good fight too. Maia was diving at his 'shoe laces' the whole fight, but when he got it to the ground it was a great chess match, and I give Marando credit for not getting submitted. On another note I thought it was interesting that A. Silva was in Marandos corner...lol he must truly dislike Maia. And the Penn vs. Edgar fight was good too. I will admit I am surprised. Penn was exactly right though...Edgar just jazzed up his gameplan from their last fight...And it worked out pretty darn well. lol

I guess there were only a couple bad fights...Watching Maynard fight is extremely hard..I didnt mind him before, but now I hope that he gets his head knocked off, and Nick lentz needs to get cut..

Unfortunatley I am unable to determine sarcasm over the internet...Are you saying the Maia fight was boring? At least he attempted something once the fight hit the ground. He showed improved takedowns, and his ground game is very technical. Hes already not 1 dimensional in that he got TD's and then worked for subs on the ground.

 

But Im going to assume your smarter than that and were being sarcastic...

 

by the way, what does ROFLcakes exactly mean?

AND, yes...damn those 1 dimensional wrestlers. Tell me that you enjoyed the Lentz vs. Winner fight more than the Maia fight... Ive been wrestling for most of my life and I even hate when someone with a wrestling backround just goes into a fight to take his opponent down and then do nothing once the fight hits the ground. Throw some punches or elbows or work for a submission...

Edgar vs Penn was exiting

Toney vs Couture - all mma fans should be happy with that fight

Florian vs Maynard - Kenny tried to make a good fight, but Maynard was just trying to edge a decision

Maia vs Miranda - Was good to watch maia's setups, but was disapointing he couldnt finish

Diaz vs Davis - pretty good imo

you are an obvious liar. You said the Maia fight was good, when Maia did nothing. It was a complete LNP fest BJJ style. I don't have a problem with that. That's just how fights end up sometimes, but I do have problems with liars like you who pretend you are/were a wrestler when all you have wrestled with is your zipper on your morbidly obese body while you rot in your parents' basement.

How does me stating my opinion make me a liar? And further more, how does working for submissions make it a LNP? If you couldnt see that Maia was working for subs the whole fight than you have a lot to learn buddy. Look up the 2006 Michigan states at 145...my username is enough to let you know who I am.

Matt hughes recently TKO/submitted a guy with a headlock. Tell me why he would be disqualified in a highschool wrestling tournament for that headlock. 5-10 mins to answer

I didnt see that fight, I was in Mallorca...please send me a link. But if it helps you at all, my best take down was a sweeping single to the left from the collar tie.

reverse 2

if the match is tied you go into overtime and the first person to get the takedown wins...if no one gets the takedown in the first overtime you go into a second one. If the bottom guy gets an escape he wins..if the top guy keeps control he wins.

 

Send me a link to the Hughes fight. And just for future reference...you shouldnt call someone a liar that you dont know. I dont know about you but getting called a liar really bothers me.

If you think the Maia fight was LnP you don't know what it means, Maia improved his position a lot and tried for multiple subs, he didn't just lie in guard and work enough for it not to be stood up

I don't think it was "lnp". i don't believe in something called "lnp". I believe in controlling your opponent.

You had like 20 minutes to figure out why headlock that choked a guy unconscious would be illegal in high school wrestling when it's something you would have been taught the first week of wrestling not to do. It's like a chess grandmaster not knowing that a knight moves in a "L" pattern.

Because he was giving up his dominant position to try for submissions. He could have just kept the top position for the whole fight if he just wanted to edge out a decision. He was easily winning that fight, and still would have without the submission attempts.

You cannot clasp your hands in a headloc, which is what is require dto choke someone out with a headlock(which is why it's illegal at high school level). You god damn learn that in week one, and you know it every fight cause the headlock is by far the most used hold in all of wrestling.

Ok..good call. No your not allowed to clasp your hands when you have top position except when you have someone in a pinning position...But as I said I didnt see the fight, and from the bottom position in wrestling you are allowed to clasp your hands. And I never use headlocks. I used a lot more cradles, tilts or kneck cranks.

 

You really like trying to be tough on the internet, dont you? Im starting to think that your either a 10 year old or a WWE fan who doesnt know a thing about MMA. Please explain to my why its so hard to believe that I wrestled?

YOU don't have a clue!!! UFC 118 was one the most boring events in a long time.

 

1) james Toney, and Randy Couture----what a joke, and what was the point? Didn't you all already know he was going to get taken down, pounded, and tapped out. Why do we need a fat, out of shape, out of his prime ex-boxer to come in to the cage to show you can't compare MMA to boxing.

 

2) The BJ Penn fight....was decnt action, but who cares!!!!.....no one was coming close to finishing, except maybe BJ at the end cause he knew the fight was over.....IMO it was borring!!!!

 

3) The Maynard fight was teh best fight of the night.

 

To top it off watching Lentz fight is the worst...the guy kills MMA...he wins fiights by holding guys against the cage but cannot cause any damage. It was torture whatching that retard.

i think my $50 hard earned was well spent..... if u dont like it, there is other combat sports you can watch homey... but the Lentz fight was hard to watch.... lucky the fridge was full...
