hughm Posted August 29, 2010 Report Share Posted August 29, 2010 ufc fighters need to have the ability to sell a fight to establise a name. toney sold hes fight,eventhough he hadnt a hope of winning. i was dissapointed on how the ufc promoted the penn edgar fight. i just felt it didnt mean much for whoever won. people like toney, sonnen, rampage, hardy and lesnar can sell fights.win or loss they remain relevant in their division, make ufc more money and give themselves a chance to gain a bigger fanbase. other fighters can sell fights on their style alone.wandy, bonnar, davis, liddell, jds.carwin etc, have entertaining fights that get themselves places faster than others. bonnar and davis have poor records but their fights are exciting and that is way their in the ufc. fighters like fitch, Sotiropoulous and Marquardt, would get what they deserve if they play their cards right as they have the wins but dont have the name yet.* *the fighters were examples of how not being able to sell a fight can hurt their title aspirations.fitch should sell a fight to gain more fans as hes fighting style turns people away.hes won 5 in a row after losing to gsp and still fans dislike him because he doesnt appeal to them. look at evans nate deserves a second title shot especially beating maia, he might get belfort if he calls im out and get a faster way to the title. he has the wins but should call out belfort. gsot has won every fight hes fought in the ufc(6). he needs to call a top 3 to get a title shot as he deserves it. people like griffin and rampage dont need to win 5 in a row like fitch to get a title shot because they have personalities and know how to sell a fight. thoughts Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think JDS will have a bigger name then all of them i the near future, since his nextfight is for the belt. He is also ten times more exciting then Fitch. Marquardt has been exciting his whole career, no problems there. Sot is talented, I don't enjoy his fighting style as much as a striker, but I respect him and he certainly isn't a boring fighter.
