IF THERE IS ANY JUSTICE IN THE WORLD ?

George Sotiropoulos is one fight away from setting up a dream UFC world title fight in Sydney next February. Geelong-born Sotiropoulos will face either B.J. Penn or Kenny Florian in a lightweight title eliminator in November, and victory would likely earn him a bout for the championship belt when the UFC returns to Sydney next year. Frankie Edgar defended his title against Penn last weekend, and will take on Gray Maynard later this year. Sotiropoulos is confident of claiming the belt against whoever wins. ''I see [Edgar's] strengths and weaknesses, and I look at how my strengths and weaknesses match up against his and I've got a lot of confidence in myself,'' said Sotiropoulos, who is 6-0 in the UFC.

If so, it's a big step up for George... Can he beat either of these guys?

Nice post...... i live in Sydney and it would be insane seeing g-sot have a shot...... and i think he we handle it well.....

Yeah, I'm in Bris and would definitely fly down for it. BUT, the point is, according to this, he has to get through BJ or Kenny to get to the title shot... can he do that? It's a damn big ask either way.

As much as I hope for it, I have my doubts.

he is hungry, has some experience, very talented. I think he has a good shot at those top 4 guys.

Id say everyones a bad matchup for him though

How well can he strike against a fast florian

How can he strike or grapple with Penn

And I think he has the best shot against maynard, since maynard probably wouldnt want anything to do with his ground game since the standup is close, with maynard having maybe a power advantage.

but Edgar seems too fast, and too good a wrestler.

But if he gets on top of any of these guys, MAN id love to see him go to work. He is easily one of my favorite fighters to just WATCH. i tune everyone out, i put my beer down, and just watch him do his thing. Hes awesome, and I hope he gets at least an opportunity against those guys.

I think George matches up better with either Edgar or Maynard then he does with BJ or Kenny, George has a great bottom game and is constantly going for sweeps and submissions of his back.

Penn would beat his **** they should let Penn have his rubber match with Hughes at 170 then have him drop back down to 155 later for the winner of this fight to be true number 1 contender.

Like most have mentioned he matches up much better with Florian and could win the fight although if I had to pick a winner I would take Kenny over George by decision.
