Tjinjatu 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2010 Sorry if this is a stupid question but is the can-opener illegal in the UFC or MMA in general? Thanks.
fryingsquirrel 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2010 If so it's a recent rule, it's been done before.

T_R_E_O_S 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 I highly doubt its illegal, its just that while it can be painful its fairly easy to get out of and I doubt you will see anyone get tapped with it more or less its used for transitions.
Shady_Champ 2 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 I don't know anything about the Can opener. I just know about the Can Crusher.
guthro777 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 Neck cranks are illegal in amateur MMA, at least they are in SC and NC, I don't know about other states. Neck cranks are legal in Pro MMA. The can opener is mainly just used to get your opponent to open their guard so you can pass it. It just doesn't work on UFC level competitors.
Shimi1406052972 1 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 As much as Im a fan of the "Can Crusher" as you call him, I was screaming at my television for him to pull out the can opener on Werdum... I honestly think it would have got him clear....
