So what does everyone think of Phil Davis?

reminded me kinda of Jon Jones with the impressive skills he showed' date=' definitely a prospect to look out for[/quote']

ehh not quite yet. Jon Jones would destroy Phil Davis right now. He would knock Davis out striking. Bones could stop his Takedowns but Phil Davis is definitely on his way up to that level. I think he deserves a low top 10 guy. Maybe winner of vera/silva or hammill or something.

based on what? the ability of davis to take down cans or the ability of jones to manhandle top wrestlers like nothing? I see Bones easily winning the striking game if it came to that as well. Phil Davis is a really good grappler and powerful, but not a finisher like Bones is. I think Bones takes him down and elbows a hole into his head. Davis on his back would not fare well imo. With more striking training Phil Davis could absolutely be a top LHW, but he hasnt faced the competition yet to warrant that title. In a year or two though that thought may very well change, i wont doubt that

You are too far bought into the hype train to have a reasonable conversation, I will say I cant wait till JJ comes against one of the top technical stikers and then you will see his "unorthodox style" is actually nonsense.

why is it nonsense? Im not bought into any hype train. Ive known he was a great fighter for quite some time now. I am perfectly capable on reasonable conversation if reasonable points are brought up to me not saying his striking is nonsense with no reasoning behind. Youve just made yourself a hypocrite.. I would gladly have an intelligent debate with you if youd like, but saying his striking is nonsense without reasoning is complete nonsense and you know this. Besides Bones would simply takedown any supreme striker and finish him quickly on the ground like he previously has proven to be quite capable of.

When he comes up against an elite striker JJ will be taken apart, no question at all, and what credentials are helping him take down any striker? His JUCO rasslin title? doubtful, The Judo he (by his own word) learned off of youtube? doubtful. And when he comes up against Bader we'll see who dominates where the fight takes place.

Ive been following bones before he entered the UFC when he was defeating guys like Parker Porter' date=' Moyses Gabin, Ryan Varett. I am not another band wagon jumper please dont classify me as that . thank you.[/quote']

Congratulations, you must be a bigger and better fan than the rest of us.

I believe he completely manhandled guys like Hammil, Vera, and Matyushenko who are all supreme proven wrestlers.... He can take down anyone he wants to. The Bader will be huge no doubt. Bader looked sloppy against Jardine though and was lucky to catch him at the end of the fight. I dont see anywhere that Bader has the advantage. He has yet to prove any dominance to me. Bones is a finisher, a proven finisher. I dont see where Bader can win. Also what fighters in the LHW division are supremem BJJ strikers that can defeat him easily. Rashad, Rampage, Rua, Bader... none of these guys in the top tier are primarily BJJ fighters...
