BJBJJ
machida is gun shy from getting KO'd and his corner knows this so they dont want to run him straight into rampages fists. round 1 goes exactly as expected......... maybe a little to close for machida after round 1 machidas corner "close round, keep avoiding his fists, you're doing good, the first round was close so dont get hit and wait for an opening." round 2......... machida doesnt attack at all..... no opening. after round 2 machidas corner " ****..... buddy, you might lose this fight if you dont KO this guy" machida "WTF?! you said the first round was close?" machidas corner "yah...... but still, I mean....... you cant just NOT hit him. WTF lyoto!" round 3......... lyoto waits for half the round before actually attacking...... too little too late (but it was exciting for that last couple minutes..... I was hoping) so why did lyoto lose? 1) too afraid of getting hit. 2) (my hypothesis) lyotos corner expected him to be more aggressive in the second then he was. if the corner told machida he NEEDED to win the second round then he would have won the fight. IMO.
AUSMMA
I agree. But he should have been more aggressive when they tied up in the clinch. He literally did nothing, he just stood there until he could sprint to a safe distance. I think he was always afraid of getting KO'd, but after the Shogun loss he has become terrified. I still will pick Lyoto in the rematch, if he takes it to the ground he has a distinct advantage, as he showed in the fight. But this fight just proved to me that Lyoto is too scared to get hit, and Rampage will never be a top contender. Even Rampage has sort of become a wrestler, he basically did what Rashad did to him in his last fight. I think we have seen the end of the big hitting Rampage

I wonder if Page will be a bit scared due to the knees knees knees he ate in the first match.

The key difference was rampage consistently cut off the octagon. Rampage had great movement in this fight, and thats why he won. Had machida been anymore aggressive than he was he woulda be ko'd. Most of the shots rampage landed came when machida tried to attack. Machida has never been a great " striker " he has just used superior movement / footwork to ( usually ) out point his opponent. Rampage did well. All in all i thought it was a good close fight. I wouldnt have argued, much, had machida got the nod. If bones wins id love to see a machida vs jones fight. I think it would make sense for both fighters. Ya machida would be coming off of two losses, but its a nice step up in competition for jones. Also id love to watch machida try to dance away from his freakishly long arms. If he won you could argue for a title shot.
Juzie
Maybe true. But his only official loss until now was the only fight he fought aggressively so he had a good reason to start out that way. Half of this game is 90% mental, better luck next time.
