Mickeyo64
Does it really matter? if you were a champion of the world wouldn't you want you name to be said correctly? if they can say a name correctly like sotiropolous then you should be able to say jose the right wa. Doctor_Obviously
Guys. It's JO-se because in Brazil, the H sounds are used for the R's....Royce Gracie/HOYce Gracie. So the J is the J sound.

MysticKJ
Rogan ALWAYS calls him Jo-say Aldo. It's irritating. Aldo is brazilian, his name is not pronounced in the traditional spanish "Jose (H o-zay)"... it is pronounced somewhat like this "Jose (Zho-zeh)"...i speak portuguese...the phonetics may not be 100% reflective, but it was the closest I could think of...not Joe-zay either... Doctor_Obviously
but ive heard them say it the other way too....weird Sometimes people go by what they're accustomed to. I used to work with a Russian girl named Masha and my boss always called her Marsha (the American version). But then I think about Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and wonder why it's not ever pronounced **-drigo....when I sometimes hear **-gerio for his brother. I've been watching him as "**-say" and not "joe-say." H o-zay is what most non-portuguese speakers say...those that know the difference between spanish and portuguese (but don't speak portuguese) will say Joe-say...and the rest will say Zho-zeh...i'm having a hard time putting it down phonetically...but the first 'z' is not the 'z' in zebra...the 'z' is more like the "ge" in beige...or like the 's' in casual... MysticKJ
the J is pronounced as in French, like the "s" in "pleasure" or "casual"...
Mickeyo64
well then i don't understand how they announcers can go so long saying his name wrong then finally switch its frustrating to me. makes me think if theres anybody else whos name they butcher that i don't know about
kiddasilva
H o-zay is what most non-portuguese speakers say...those that know the difference between spanish and portuguese (but don't speak portuguese) will say Joe-say...and the rest will say Zho-zeh...i'm having a hard time putting it down phonetically...but the first 'z' is not the 'z' in zebra...the 'z' is more like the "ge" in beige...or like the 's' in casual... So true, and the e is more of an "eh" sound, it's really hard to spell out the phonetics of portuguese pronunciation, it's like when I tried telling my friend about how to pronounce the "ao" with a squiggly line above the "a". Doctor_Obviously
the J is pronounced as in French' date=' like the "s" in "pleasure" or "casual"...[/quote'] So basically Joe Rogan and everyone else saying JO-zay was closer to being right then the H O-zay. They get the Rafael right, but the Anjos they pronounce it in the way you pronounce A?os in spanish, even though it's pronounced Anjos, meaning Angels, so his name really says Rafael of the Angels. kiddasilva
lol...my friends asked me about that' date=' but i gave up...[/quote'] I think portuguese is the only language with that specific sound, well, I'm not sure "sound" is the right word for it. Maybe if I were to say portuguese is the only language that has "?o" pronounced in that specific way, yeah... But even then I wouldn't put money on it, I never trust myself when it comes to these things.
GroundandPound_Mike
It will be a good fight but if Jose Aldo didn't wanted to right Kenny Florian I doubt it he will want BJ Penn, if anything him and Frankie Edgar is a greater fight. Brock needed to lose that way when He gets his title back people won't Say he didn't deserve it. Dream match Anderson Silva vs Fedor Emelianenko
