The SALTY thread!!!!

So yeah about a week ago I'm driving to see my brother and it's a long trip so I'm tuned into one of the Sirius radio stations since I'm fortunate enough to have satellite radio in my vehicle. The host of the show announces that they're giving way COD: Black Ops if you can answer a certain riddle. The question is what do you get when you place a gun under a palm tree?? After a few minutes it dawns on me exactly what the answer is, because it was the Sirius radio station I was listening to. Anyone that has Sirius probably knows what station and what the answer to the riddle is by now. Simultaneously however they decide to go off on this ridiculous topic of who suspects certain singers of being gay which I could give a hoot about, but later it would come back to haunt me.

I make an effort to call into the station with the answer and at first I keep getting busy signals. After about 4 or 5 tries the phone starts ringing and I speak to one of the program directors and he puts me on hold to wait for one of the studio hosts to take my call, but my call is disconnected b4 i can speak to anyone! I thought I had lost signal because of the area I was traveling in, but later on found out that the call automatically disconnects once you've been on hold for more than five minutes!!! The call will automatically disconnect after about 1 minute of ringing if no one picks up at all.

So now i'm repeatedly calling and hoping to at least speak to the program director in hopes that my call will be patched through and my call will be taken immediately. Several people had tried to call in an attempt to answer the riddle, but none were coming even close. After a ridiculous number of attempts and about the third time of speaking to the program director (and at least twice getting disconnected) i finally get patched through to one of the studio hosts. The guy takes my call, calls out my name and I'm thinking "this is it, I'm about to get a free copy of Black Ops" and the stupid studio guest says "oh my fault, we took the wrong phone call"...and drops the line!!! They were apparently more concerned with hearing from people who wanted to chime in on the "who's secretly gay topic???" than anyone else at the time. I could hear the people in the studio laughing just as he did it. I can't even think of a word to describe how I felt at that moment other than the title of this thread and it doesn't even do it justice. All i wanted to do was answer a simple question and this idiot pulls the rug right out from underneath me. It was like a Charlie Brown moment when he goes to kick the football and Lucy pulls the ball back before he can kick it. By the time I got back through to talk to the program director somebody had tweeted the correct answer in. I've never come that close to winning anything I really wanted and felt I had a good chance at except one other time when i won a Rocky Bleier autograghed football (altho really it was just his insignia)...which was kinda weird since it happened in Illinois and I just happened to be a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. I haven't given a minute of listening to the radio station since.

Anywayz if anyone can think of similar stories (whatever the situation) feel free to allow us to share in your misery.
