After re watching Joe Lauzon vs George Sotiropoulos.

Joe made George look slow on the feet in the first round, landing good combinations. Lauzon also stuffed George's take downs quite easily, until he gassed in the second. In conclusion i think that fighters who have crisper stand up than G-Sot and that also have good take down defense and cardio will easily be able too beat him. Guys like BJ Penn, and Frank Edgar. George also lacks wrestling so if he loses the stand up he cant dictate where the fight takes place.

Ok, here's how it went. Lauzon's game plan was to try and over whelm George and finish him in the first round, Lauzon knew he couldn't keep up with that pace for the other rounds and so did George.

Lauzon put all his eggs in one basket and it failed, it worked last time against a low caliber opponent but this time it didn't.

Penn and Florian would finish George. Edgar and Maynard would decision him and Ben Henderson would give him all he could handle.

I know he has a lot of fans but he's not going to wear the belt. He will probably get a no. 1 contenders bout after the Siver fight unless they want to put him on the shelf for a moment while the LW title is straightened out between 4 fighters.

Unless Siver catches him with a spinning back kick :)

George was obviously very tensed up in the 1st round...that's why he somewhat looked like a fish out of water. For good reason as well...Joe Lauzon is one bad dude! Had he not gassed, the fight very well could have gone the other way...especially for the fact that George WAS tensed or nervous.

Would like to also add that I do not think Lauzon gassed because of being out of shape. Both these guys were probably juiced-up BIG TIME for this fight. That takes a lot out of you before the fight even begins.

I haven't rewatched yet but how/why did Joe gas?

Did he just throw everything he had at George? and get next to nothing for it.

Seeing George in the corner between rounds he was totally screwed (would you agree?) why were they both so tired?

Hopefully rewatch tonight if I get a chance.

i think that if george faces someone like frankie edgar ie good standup and good tdd' date=' i think he is going to have a long night....but kudos for him, to come back after that first round, and finish that fight[/quote']

I see you went with my suggestion for a pic, good choice (not that I am biased).

I thought Lauzon looked great in the first round. There's a body shot he took late in the first round that seemed to hurt him. I wonder if a liver shot might have contributed to draining the gas tank? Anyone else think the same thing?

george is good and he will handle siver.....if he was brazilian or american he would be the best in the world right? the aussie is hetting no love like our mexicans....remember how bad cain was gonna get beat?

lol so true. But I do think that Gsot will have a tough time with Siver. IMO, if Siver trained with a better team he would be a legit contender. But for now hes still a tough fight for just about anyone. And he seems to be the only fighter in the world that opponents have to gameplan for a spinning back kick that will end the fight.

well edgar wasnt suppose to get the belt right' date='then when he got it,he wasnt suppose to defend it with a win[/quote']

cant argue with that.

I lost money on BOTH those fights.

but george soteropolous is still NOT going to win the title.....EVER.

i think george has a chance...the LW division is looking weak now with penn gone kenny fading and diego beasting back up at WW.....

this ^^^ with penn and sanchez out of the division, and kenflo out of his prime, all it will take is 1 chance, and IF he gets any of the top LW contenders on the ground he is a good chance of finishing

and after losing money on both fights you still havnt learnt your lesson :P

dont know what this is referencing as I have posted anti BJ in another thread and anti GS in this thread.

but I am up over all......... just ****ing BJ is my achilles heel.

I WON on his last fight.

and seriously..... I should have won on his edgar fights.

I feel a little part of me die inside every time I say "I think BJ will win" because I know he will lose and then make excuses like a ****ing 12 year old girl.

but GS COULD win against edgar IMO, but he could NOT beat nate diaz, he could NOT beat clay guida (yah, I hate him but I accept the inevitable decision),lay praynard.......meh....who cares, really, joe stephens, 50/50.

i think edgars his toughest challenge as he doesnt need to take it to the ground to win...how ever i think george beats maynard 8-10 times and really who else @ LW is there other then those 2 who match up well against him? guida? please he will get subbed..sherk? maybe but i dont think he wants to take him to the ground....dunham??stylisically very similar but geaorge has way better wrestling and jits...
