I think this fight makes a lot of sense. Would love to see these two go at it. Who takes it?

i personally think this fight is gonna happen...and think guillard will win...kennys wrestling isnt strong ...so this fight aint goin to the ground....standup war and guillard is a quicker and more powerful striker....sounds to me like a win for guillard

I would love to see this fight happen. It would be a good opportunity for both guys. Kenny is the better all around fighter but I'm not sure he could handle Guillard's speed and power advantage. If Guillard could pull off the win that would catapult him into the top 5. Hope this fight happens.

Dana would be CRAZY for not making this fight happen. Melvin has been saying that Kenny should step down because he already had his shot(s), and Kenny has said that Melvin should prove he can hang with the elite guys at 155 as Kenny has been doing before he can write Kenny off. The hyping has begun, the excitement has been created with Melvins last performance against Dunham. Melvin has to prove he can hang with the elite, Kenny has to prove that he still has what it takes to become a champ.

LETS GET IT DONE DANA!

zzzzzzz what a lame call by kenny D: in this point of his career he should take high risk chances since he's about to go down his peak if not yet. any one on the upper 5 v kenny. guillard vs guida kthx and yea easy win for guida.. guillard will lose to whoever higher ranked than him he fights

Correct Melvin just fought but he barely got touched and barely spent any energy. So he can fight next week if you would ask him. Just make this match up happen.

I think there needs to be some background info of the words of Kenny. He didn?t just go out there and called Melvin out. He was asked to respond to Melvin?s comments about other hard working fighters getting a shot at the title in favor of Kenny since Kenny already has had his shots. Kenny then responded that Melvin is all wrong, that it?s not about who gets how many shots. It?s about whose the better fighter. Kenny pointed out that he got those shots because he earned them. He got those shots by hanging with the best fighters in the division and beat them. That?s why he got the shots. Makes perfect sense. Kenny didn?t want to steal Melvin?s thunder. Kenny was then asked if he would want to fight Melvin and he responded that he would after Melvin?s performance against Dunham.

I think Kenny?s words make perfect sense. If Melvin wants to count Kenny out in favor of himself, then he has to prove that he deserves the title shot over Kenny by beating Kenny. Not by virtue of hard work.

This fight would potentially be a fight of the night

Kenflo great striker, good leg kicks and knees, he also had pretty good jits and he's quick

Melvin is defiantly the quicker of the 2.

The key to Kenny winning this fight is taking away the speed, hard leg kicks in round and and force some grappling, it will be tougher for Melvin to jump around and Kenny could take it by TKO or a sub if it goes to the ground for long enough.

The route to winning this fight for Guillard is to keep on the outside, come in for short exchanges, he doesn't wanna try and brawl wildly with Kenny cause he'd get picked apart.

Melvin has to pick his punches careful and get in and out, if he does find the chin of kenny he could get the KO

Huge step up for Guillard, if he wins this he's in immediate title contention

At the last minute I changed my pick to Melvin over Dunham.

This fight actually makes a lot of sense. KenFlo was suppose to fight Dunham, and if Dunham won I'm sure that they would have reset that match later on. Since Melvin won it makes sense that Kenny should fight the winner as he's obviously higher ranked than both presently.

That being said... there's a reason why Kenny was suppose to main event and Guillard was on the prelims originally. Sadly for Melvin his biggest weakness is against submission specialists, he should fight a wrestler perhaps Sherk, or Guida next, since that's the majority of the top 10 LW's anyways.

See: Kenny vs. Gomi and Diaz vs. Guillard.

Tough fight to call imho. Kenny is very technical in his stand up and his JJ, but Guillard is very fast and very powerful. If Kenny could get the fight to the ground, it should be an easy win, but that's easier said than done. It only takes one clean shot from Guillard to win a fight. That being said, I'd take Kenny by sub rd 2.

What kind of moronic post is this?

Guillard just BLASTED through Evan Dunham, and Dunham was easily ranked higher than Melvin was.

I'm a huge Florian fan, but I've also liked Guillard for a long time. I'd love to see Florian win, but it's a very tough fight for both guys.

I agree this is one of those fights where you dont want either to lose.

This would be a great fight. I've been a Florian fan for years and for just as long I've been saying that Melvin is just a tweak or 2 in attitude and training from being a top ranked fighter. It would be a shame to see either fighter lose but what a fight.

If Melvin did fight Florian and won... It should be a title worthy win. But if he lost he's back at the end of the line and will need to string together 3-4 fights to get back up, and it doesn't really do anything for Florian if he wins. This might be a little too much too soon for Melvin, but he did rise to the occasion against Dunham, but let's not forget this was Dunhams first main event too... And I suspect Florian would have won as well.
