Ichigo
Who wins and how? Depends it could end up SD for either as they fight will be standing
MABFanForLife
Three-round striking battle. No idea who wins, though. But I'd sure as hell love to see it.

Shady_Champ
Yeah I'd love to see this fight too. Alves didn't suffer any injuries they should scrap Fitch and replace him with Alves. This fight has FOTN written all over it.
rookie189
I would say Alves by decision because he is primarily a striker and is the most technical in the division. He would use kicks, where Penn primarily uses punches. Alves also has the power advantage, but Penn is very precise with his shots (unless fighting edgar). I'd take Alves by SD in a thriller FOTN
LW4MMA
It would be a standup fight... until Alves threw a leg kick and Penn caught it, took him down and chocked him out.
wingzero8717
Considering there my 1-2 favourite fighters i would not want them too fight.

TheAdrenalineEffect
I love BJ (One of my favorite fighters) but against Alves, thats a BAD matchup for him. Alves is too big for BJ to take down and use his JJ advantage. Alves has much better striking than BJ. Alves by TKO/KO.
Erjabo
It would be a standup fight... until Alves threw a leg kick and Penn caught it' date=' took him down and chocked him out.[/quote'] Penn probably wouldn't be able to hold Alves down. GSP had trouble doing it. I think it'd go to decision. Probably Alves by UD. Definitely be a good fight.
xshitheadx
Alves by easy annihilation of a smaller, weaker, and less technical striker who won't be able to take him down. I'm actually surprised that BJ has as many votes as he does. This ones a no brainer.

Mile_High_Junkie
Who wins and how? Alves by TKO in the 3rd. Alves' ground game is good enough to avoid Penn's submissions. Alves is a more technical and well rounded striker. Alves will have 17 lbs weight advantage on fight night with better cardio, and twice the power as Penn. by the 3rd round I see Penn worn out and unable to get Tiago on the ground. Thiago finishes by TKO.

Thiago couldn't stop Howard, and actually spent most of the fight on the ground offensively. Everyone at WW is going to have a weight "advantage". Too bad none other than GSP have a skill advantage.
