Jbrahams
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/1/29/1962920/bj-penn-to-train-with-matt-hughes-during-ufc-127-prep-for-jon-fitch Maybe this is for Hughes to help improve Penn's wrestling because as we all know that is what Fitch's gameplan is going to be going into the fight - take BJ down. If BJ can improve his TDD (already great) and since he has great BJJ then I don't see him losing the fight tbh. Thoughts?

Just_Bl33d
Does this mean Penn is training more than 3x a week now..
Enigma_Machine
interesting, i think hughes would do a good job of simulating fitch's style. If bj is on with his tdd and fast hands like his last fight, fitch is in for a world of hurt.
PRIDEneverDIED
my thoughts woulda been BJ's tdd is to good...but after Edgar got td's with ease...i dunno how true that is anymore. Anyways i think its good for Penn to train with Hughes. Hughes does not only have great wrestling but his BJJ is good too. He may be able to help Penn use wrestling or BJJ to counter Fitch's wrestling....if the right BJ Penn shows up its gonna be a long night for Fitch, i think Penn is capable of picking him apart on the feet or submitting him if he gets a TD or get taken down by Fitch, that is where Hughes will come in to help. Duckzee
thats real professional of hughes to do that. kudos

If BJ can improve his TDD (already great) and since he has great BJJ then I don't see him losing the fight tbh. Thoughts? I like this a lot...he is improving his TDD and his own wrestling with this move. Also he is making his striking more crisp. I think this was just now revealed I think they have been training the together the whole camp and BJ just revealed it like a a few weeks out from the fight. He is improving his already awesome striking. Increasing his ability to avoid takedowns and improving his wrestling. And his BJJ is top notch, how does Jon Fitch beat him I am being honest asking that?
Enigma_Machine
now that i'm thinking about it more i bet part of the reason hughes is helping penn is because he wanted to takedown bj so bad, and he didn't really get time to. So he's going after him in training.

Jamhet
That's beautiful, it shows the great spirit of both those men. They've been into wars against each other, and look how much respect they've got for each other. I love it. Go Penn!
Randizzle_KO
That's awesome, good to see 2 of my fav's training with eachother Kind of how BJ and Jens made up and trained together for a bit
1blowKO
Looks like BJ is finally getting some good karma. Respect Hughes in postfight interview after knocking him out, he'll train you to take out a top of the food chain fighter like Fitch.
GovernmentMule
BJ's already good TDD + training his wrestling with Hughes = hopefully a win for BJ against Fitch. I have my fingers crossed for BJ. The last thing I want to see is Fitch grind BJ out.
Jbrahams
question is - Is Hughes going to fight again?
GovernmentMule
question is - Is Hughes going to fight again? Hughes was uncertain about continuing -- didn't know what he was going to do in the future. Haven't read any news about Hughes plans. I think he should try it again. He was on a three-fight win streak until the BJ fight.
KungFuMaster
Until an actual video proof is provided, we cannot assume Penn is training with Hughes or let alone training at all. And even when a video is provided, we have to send the video to laboratory experts for testing - to make sure the video has not been tampered with or altered - to ensure the authenticity. Until irrefutable evidence has been provided, we are safe to say Penn is not training.

JahGreen
I thought he was training with Floyd Mayweather Sr. For the Fitch fight.. BJ is no Hughes. Nobody is able to lay and pray on Hughes. BJ is still going to lose..He don't have the wrestling prowess of Hughes.

IanThePhoenix
BJ should train with Anderson Silva to learn how to beat a high level wrestler. Or train at Team Quest with Sonnen and Hendo.
toadstoolicious
I'm not a Penn fan and actually hoping he'll lose against Fitch but i changed my mind after reading the article. Means that BJ is not slacking off on his training. I hate fighters who lose because they didnt train like they should like BJ used to.
