JahGreen
Hhahahahahah. Yeah right. This has got to be a joke. If a professional swimmer get's caught in a choke, they will simply get put to sleep, no matter how long they can hold their breath. Michael Phelps will get choked out if he is put in a choke. Yes they can hold their breath for 5 mins but simply put, getting yourself into a choke you will go lights out no matter who you are. If Michael Phelps is put into a RNC..He will get choked out. Nobody is immune to blood chokes. The blood will stop running to somebody's head in 6-10 seconds and no matter who you are, you are getting choked out if the choke is applied correctly. Without oxygenated blood going to the brain, your going to sleep in a matter of seconds. So this myth is busted. Nobody is immune to chokes..Not even Olympic swimmers. Black_House
I don't see how this was a myth. One has to do with getting air to your lungs, while the other has to do with getting blood circulation cut off from the brain.

And a 'blood choke' as you describe it, won't affect him because he doesn't have a brain.

LT_BJJ
It's were you get someone in a RNC and then bite their neck while your doing it and suck the blood out. It's effective but you could get aids That was just stupid.

LT_BJJ
Please tell me you know the difference between an air choke and a blood choke.. JahGreen
Most chokes cut off the air from entering the airway and compress both of your carotid arteries. You do realize this yes? Most chokes actually cut off the circulation of blood going to the brain via Blood Choke. Air choke is when somebody is trying to cut off the air circulation that is going to your body like supressing somebody's adam's apple. It's usually not as effective as a blood choke seeming as you need to be fairly strong but a person who is efficient in air chokes can make somebody go unconcsious without the need to stop the blood circulation. I'm surprised you didn't know what a blood choke is. Most people who train in BJJ usually knows what a blood/air choke is. For certain Judo Practitioners know what air chokes and blood chokes are. Are you sure your getting your money's worth? Look it up, it gives a better explanation.

bonesbonesbones
If anyone thinks that a swimmer cant get choked out they need a new sport to follow besides fighting and/or swimming. A chokehold, like a rnc, will cut off the blood supply to the brain while holding your breath underwater cuts off the oxygen supply. It takes a lot longer to pass out due to lack of blood than lack of oxygen... mainly because their is a little oxygen in blood but no blood in oxygen.
