Americana23
Jones is the slight fav and they determine who the fav is by gauging what they believe the average(bandwaggoning) fan believes, hence Bones being the fav.
cbjuan
Just a stupid question who is the underdog in this fight. And how do bookies/websites decide who is fav/underdog betting websites determine betting odds by money outlayed on each fighter. FIGHTER A may have started at $2.50 for the fight but as substantial amounts of money gets placed on FIGHTER A it reduces his betting odds while sending FIGHTER B odds up, which then makes FIGHTER A the betting favourite. artvandelay-1
All bookies want 50% of the people to bet on fighter A (or team A), and 50% of the people to bet on fighter B ( or team . Bookies dont gamble, their not stupid. Half the people who lose pay the other half who win and they collect the vig (the amount they charge you to bet) Once the betting lines open the odds change according to who is betting on who. If too many people are betting on fighter A, they change the odds to make people bet on fighter B.

He opened up favored a little and the spread is just getting bigger and bigger. Currently some places have Jones at -225 and Rua at +185... Having Jones favored 2 to 1 over Rua is laughable. KOKJ
I think Jones is definitely talented, but to put him above a seasoned veteran with the talents of Shogun is insane. You never count Shogun out. I like Jones, but I'm going for Shogun.
