These guys spar, roll, fight all year. I Think physically draining yourself right before a fight is far worse than fighting at your gym for a year before an official fight. Someone like Josh Kos probably has no such issue. Most are very masterful of their emotions - but they're still human. In any situation, no matter how experienced you are, getting into a ring to fight infront of thousands of people, when one slip can cost you the fight/ your job/ even your career... Most athletes compete at least once a month - but fighters at the top level, sometimes only twice a year. When a fighter talks about ring-rust, he's usually talking about confidence.
