mmafan73
Mauricio Shogun Rua's brother, Murilo, has pinpointed the exact moment the Brazilian lost his fight to Jon Jones and promised that he will return to the Octagon in the near future. Shogun was beaten by Jones at UFC 128, suffering one of the most one-sided defeats ever handed out to a champion as he lost his light-heavyweight title. The image of Rua crumpled on the floor after Jones' final onslaught made it difficult to imagine the former Pride champion ever overcoming the American, but brother Murilo insists Shogun will make a return to the UFC Octagon. "I was very surprised with [Jones'] game," he told Tatame. "Shogun trained a lot and Jones was able to neutralize [his] game, I think he studied Shogun's game a lot, so congrats to him. "Shogun now needs to go back to Brazil and analyze the fight, see what went wrong and go from there. I think [Jones] has a brilliant future ahead of him, he's a very young athlete, but in this weight class I think it's very hard. People don't seem to be able to keep the title for more than one fight. "Everyone wins and then loses the belt so it's a very tough weight class and there are a lot of great fighters, so we'll see. He's a young guy and will stay strong going forward, but Shogun will be able to make a strong comeback, for sure." Shogun has been criticised by sections of the MMA media for seemingly having no cardio, much as he did the last time he returned from knee surgery against Mark Coleman. However, Murilo believes Jones did major damage early. "I think [what went wrong during the fight] was the very first strikes Jones landed on Shogun, that knee and the head kick, may have taken his gas away." ? ESPN EMEA Ltd That first knee ****ed up shogun and it rattled him, shogun wasnt outa gas its just he got rocked and couldnt come back....Good job jones, shogun will be back though! War shogun! S6XStringz
I didn't think that knee actually landed that much. Guess I was wrong. However, that front kick would have probably knocked out any other fighter, but because this is shogun, it didn't.

AfflictionRUSH
I didn't think that knee actually landed that much. Guess I was wrong. However' date=' that front kick would have probably knocked out any other fighter, but because this is shogun, it didn't.[/quote'] That front kick was a tribute to Anderson Silva. Jones said that somewhere. I read it on some article. But Jones's front kick didn't land that cleanly. And his technique wasn't as good as Silva's. When you do a front kick, you have to measure your opponent and time it right. Also when you kick, you have to move your hips more. Move your hips forward. That gives you more power. And you kick em in the chin with the ball of your foot. It's a hard kick to do with perfect technique. Silva's front kick was just beautiful. Jones's was good..but it could've been set up better. And his technique for the kick wasn't that great. It was good but not great. It was a little sloppy.

Rizzle1d3w
shoguns ribs were definetly broken when jones threw that last knee to the body when shogun was turtled up. because after that shogun got up, backed against the cage, and jones nailed him with another nice body shot and shogun dropped. so imo his body was definetly in some pain. fantastic fight on jones part. i think he will sit on top for longer then any lhw has been able to lately.
