How to fix the scoring system.

Have three judges, for each scoring criteria, instead of having three judges scoring entire fights.

We have three groups of three, instead of three judges. Each group has 1 striking judge, 1 grappling judge, and one agression and octagon control judge. Each group combines their scores together to come up with one score. This can still be based on the 10 point must scoring system. Each member of the three person group has to score their aspect of the game and that's it.

This way we would have:

3 judges scoring effective striking (including clinch and ground striking)

3 judges scoring effective grappling (including clinch grappling, takedowns, takedown defence)

3 judges scoring aggression and octagon control

the last criteria are what is the main problem with current scoring, and with these combined they will make up only 1/3rd of the scoring system instead of 1/2. And with the first two criteria being split up we can now have experts in their respective fields scoring the fights.

Once their individual scores are made, their scores are combined to come up with an overall score for both fighters. The points difference of each round on each judges scorecard is taken into account for each judge for the entire fight. And the three 10 point must scores are combined to give an overall score. This way the fight is scored as a whole not just individual rounds.

And with three groups, we don't get biased or inaccurate judgement of any one aspect of the fight, which is why we have three judges in the first place.

For instance, Diego Sanchez vs Martin Kampmann

Group 1

Stiker Judge:

Rd 1 10-9 Kampmann = total is 10-9 kampmann

Rd 2 10-9 Kampmann = total is 10-8 kampmann

Rd 3 10-9 Sanchez = total is 10-9 kampmann

overall 10-9 Kampmann

Grappler Judge:

Rd 1 10-9 Kampmann = 1 point = 10-9 kampmann

Rd 2 10-9 Kampmann = 1 point = 10-8 kampmann

Rd-3 10-9 Kampmann = 1 point = 10-7 kampmann

overall 10-7 kampmann

Agression & octagon control Judge

Rd 1 10-9 Sanchez = 1 point = 10-9 sanchez

Rd 2 10-9 Sanchez = 1 point = 10-8 sanchez

Rd 3 10-9 Sanchez = 1 point = 10-7 sanchez

overall 10-7 sanchez

add the scores together and we get an overall group 1 score 27-26 Kampmann

do this with the 2 other groups and we may see scores like

Group 1 = 27-26 Kampmann (kampmann scores 10-9 in one criteria overall and both fighters score one 10-7 criteria each)

Group 2 = 27-24 Sanchez (1 fighter scores one 10-7 criteria, 1 fighter scores two 10-7 criteria)

Group 3 = 30-21 Kampmann, (kampmann scores all three criteria 10-7)

for the winner by split decision Martin the hitman Kampmann....

what do you guys think of this style? too complex? too many judges? keeping it simple like the boxing 10 point must system obviously isn't working, mma has many more styles to judge, so i think we should see more judges specific for each style, this way we will have a more accurate assessment of who won the fight. (Obviously my judging may be biased or inaccurate which is why three judges for each criteria would be better) I'll do one for BJ Penn vs Jon Fitch as well.

This fight is a majority draw

(obviously my judging may be biased or inaccurate which is why three different fudges for each criteria would be better)

I Dont Understand Agression and Octagon Control? They should just get rid of that alltogether. Whoever hits who more' date=' Wins. it's that Simple really.[/quote']

someone has to push the fight or noone gets hit. Imagine Machida fighting another Machida.
