Faber thought he won: What do you think

besides 2 Faber punches' date=' the fight was all Cruz. Crontrol, aggresion, precision, all Cruz.

At best you can score it 48-47, but at worst 50-45, i think one judge got it right at 49-46.

and Faber is now the new Kenny Florian.[/quote']

Agree 100%. I had it 49-46 Cruz

I had it 48/47 Cruz

Cruz' style is so ****ing irritating to me! Tbh though, we might as well enjoy having a striker for a champion while we still can, because Demetrious 'Mighty Rat' Johnson is coming for that title and we all know it's just gonna be 5 rounds of taking Cruz down and laying on him.

Torres won that fight IMO

I had Faber winning 1,2, and 4, but 1 could have easily been a 10-10 round, causing a draw. Cruz got knocked down 3 times not 2, although one looked like he fell from being off balanced. At the point of round 5, Cruz at least thought he was tied or losing because he came out swinging for the fences and scoring takedowns. he had to impress the judges in rd.5 to win, and he did. I like Cruz and faber, but Cruz landed nothing noteable, and only scored on mutliple take downs(to which were not sustained and caused no damage whatsoever), in round 5 because he was desperate. No matter how you see it, both fighters fought not to lose. One was scared, and the other was glad.

IMO' date=' thought Faber never pressed hard enough. He looked too fresh at the end of fight and think he left too much in the tank. Had he gone balls out in 4 & 5 rounds I think he stood a good chance of taking Cruz out. Gotta believe he is kicking himself today.[/quote']

I agree on that one. I also predict Faber wins the third match in round 4 with a submission.

ya i hate the way Cruz fights too. but i don't think Johnson will be able to take him down imo. Cruz will ride his bicycle all the way to another UD.

you have to take the belt from the champ he clearly did not do that it was close but he did not win' date=' he an idiot[/quote']

And that is the unfortunate part of it. Faber was not impressive enough to the judges, but 50-45 was ridiculous. I clearly see how this fight could have gone either way after watching the replay today. You clearly have to beat down the champ to win, knockdowns mean nothing if you don't capitalize on them. Also, I see the same people arguing for Siver because Wiman laid on him that are arguing for Cruz's take downs to which were not sustained and caused no damage. So which way do you want it? You can't have it both ways.

If I was Faber I would say the same thing. The fight was really close.

After watching the replay, I see a draw, with round 1 going 10-10. Faber 2-4, Cruz 3-5. Obviously if a fighter thinks he has it in the bag, he doesn't come out swinging for the fences and opening himself up for a knockout if he's won all 4 rounds. He usually stays at bay and waits for the oppurtunity to come his way to end it if it does. I viewed it twice, and if Cruz were up 4-0, he doesn't act the way he did in round 5.

50-45 was just ridiculous. Anyone see Dana's face when Bruce Buffer was reading the judges scorecards? lol You could see him look at Lorenzo Fertitta and mouth "49-46??"

I had Faber winning rounds 1(very close) and 5. And Cruz took 2' date=' 3 and 4. Good decision, bad judging.[/quote']

You gotta rewatch that fight doc. Because I thought Cruz's most dominant round was 5.

Cruz won 49-46. To say anything else is just making excuses for Faber. What is this fascination with Faber anyway? Mike Brown beat the crap out of him (twice) and Aldo destroyed him (and his leg). Now Cruz beat him decisively and some people do not want to accept it. Face it, he's good, just not great.

Cruz definitely should have won but he is another Edgar Bisping run and strike not finishing anyone type from what I saw. Fast and illusive but don't see too many exciting finishes coming from him.

Cruz is one of the most exciting fighters one could sit down and watch!!! Dude!

Cruz's style is just annoying' date=' thats why the crowd was behind Faber -[/quote']

Yes it is.

Personally, I believe that if Faber had a longer reach he would have won that fight.

He definitely lost though. No doubt about it. But, he didn't get to watch the fight from a T.V. screen when he made those comments. So, maybe after he watched it he realized he lost.
