Takeshi_Dai
apparently it's true what do you guys think? Amer. Football, statistically has a much higher rate of serious injury. MMA is not "safe" but neither is hockey, baseball, basketball, american football, soccer/football. When you are TKO'd, the fight is over. In boxing, when you are TKO'd, you get 10 seconds to recover, only to get hit and knocked down several more times. That is way more dangerous than a single KO. Wolverine79
MMA is safer than Boxing... 1.It goes only 15min total in boxing its 36 min total 2.When you finish someone with a submisson he Taps,so no dmg to the brain...in Boxing the only way is knock out,if you cant knock him out he eats head punches for more than 36 mins so it is definetly more dangerous for brain dmg!! CaptainSuperman
Why don't people talk about football injures. I think more concussions happen in football. People do. It's just that the boxing community nit picks at small arguments against MMA like the 'brutality', cause it's the only argument they have that is only somewhat valid. So of course they are gonna ignore the reality that other sports have more injuries and what not. Here's the bottom line. Short term, MMA is worse. At every event, SOMEONE gets hurt, cut open, bloodied, whatever. But there has yet to be any long term effects from fighting, other than the expected. Like Chuck, Cro Cop, Wandy, ect. not being able to take the shots they once could. That's what happens with ALL fighting. You get old, your skills decline, and you get KO'd, then you just keep on getting KO'd. That blame can not rest on the sport, but the fighters themselves. Rich Franklin said it best, he will continue fighting as long as he is healthy, that responsibility is on him. What the anti-MMA community fails to realize, is that MMA is about martial arts. In another interview, Rogan kept calling MMA the sport of fighting, and boxing the sport of punches. I agree, but Rogan should really take the point of martial arts, as it goes over better than 'fighting'. People are putting to use and testing the techniques you are taught in an everyday martial arts school.

CaptainSuperman
It's also ignorant and disgusting to see these boxing guys try and call MMA "homosexual" cause you have guys that "lay on the ground and do leg locks". It's very evident they don't care for martial arts itself, be it in MMA or boxing. They think 'that's not fighting', but they couldn't be more wrong. It's fighting, it's a martial art, it's a sport, and it's competition. You have to keep both sports separate, but if these ignorant racists (Bob Arum) want to talk MMA, they should really only stick to questions that can be answered with one word. pupaza
The arguments I hear against MMA continue to puzzle me. Muay Thai is sanctioned in New York, cause there are a bunch of events around. Wrestling is too, so is boxing and BJJ. Yet when you put all of them togheter they suddenly say it's "brutal", when in reality, the fact that you have multiple ways of winning makes it safer. Put O'Reilly in a real debate where eh can't just skip topics and leave to a commercial break whenever he wants he'd get ****ed. thesoulpower
God he's dumb. Honestly Boxing is far more dangerous it's simple you can get knocked out then get 10 seconds to get up. That's asking for brain damage it allows you to take like 5x as many punches. Think about it prob about 80% of MMA knockouts the guy is out then is good to go like 3 seconds later.Unlike boxing tho in MMA they call the fight. Per hit UFC might actually be more dangerous but the amount of hits you take in boxing greatly surpass the risk in MMA.

Its funny how they always call MMA fighters idiots, but come across looking like idiots themselves[/quote'] They have no respect for martial arts at all, just their boxers throwing fists around and calling it a science (which it is) when they want to sound intelligent. If you figure boxing is a science, how it JJ not a science? Especially when anyone can throw a punch, but not everyone can grapple even with a BJJ white belt. Basically to sum it up, they feel boxing is more important, relevant, and 'manly' than any/all other martial arts, and even a sport which includes all of them put together. I don't mean to even have a part in a boxing vs MMA discussion, I think they are apples and oranges, but I don't know too many people, even boxers themselves, who are interested in a boxing match between Joe Schmoe and John Doe.
