IT = NO

Frankie Edgar

Gray Maynard

Jim Miller

Gay Guida

BOLD = MAYBE/YES

Anthony Pettis (MAYBE)

Ben Henderson

Edson Barboza (A Few years after developing himself, he's 24)

Mainly because Pettis could pull off a lighting strikes twice scenario, Ben Henderson is a great grappler that can't be KO'd or Submitted. And Barboza's kicks are like swinging cement blocks, but he needs a few years of work because he's only 24 and made a transition from Muay Thai Pro to MMA a few years ago

It depends on what Guillard shows up.

He's 28 now so he shouldn't be crazy enough to think he can man handle everyone.

I think If guillard sticks to his base (striking) and works TDD and polishes up his BJJ, I think he could become LW champ.

Yeah' date=' but that was a close fight.

Plus, I think Barboza has a style that would be harder for Njokuani to beat.[/quote']

Styles DO make fights... Edgar vs. Penn was a perfect example. I think Penn is much better, but Edgar had the tools.

Jim Miller is the only guy that I think could possibly do it. Guillard has great wrestling and fast, powerful striking. His submission game is his only potential weakness and there aren't a lot of good submission guys at the top of the 155 division. I do think Guillard has the wrestling skills to hang with the top wrestlers and the speed and power in his striking to stand with anyone in the division.

I picked everyone but Guida, Pettis, and Henderson, and tbh, I think all of them "might" be able to beat him, but I wouldn't put money on them.

L O L at Guida getting 3 votes more than Florian. Kenny never gets any credit. :rolleyes:

People do realize this is the same Guillard who lost to Nate Diaz, Rich Clementi, & Joe Stevenson, right?

How much better did he actually get in the last 2 years? The only major improvement I really see so far is his patience. Is this really enough to finally solidify a spot in the upper echelon of the division?

I honestly think everyone in the poll has the potential to beat him.

Top LWs versus Guillard...

Edgar : Would try to out-point until his head was so rattled he'd be force to try wrestling. By that point he'd have his bell run badly enough Guillard would out-work him. (Guillard)

Maynard : Maynard would work harder for the ground, though he isn't the most dominant wrestler and Guillard would find ways to get to their feet to keep outstriking Maynard. (Guillard)

Miller : Jim Miller is a very solid guy and I would say he is one of two that would out-do Guillard on the ground and he would want to do that to win over Guillard. (Miller)

Guida : Next to Miller, the best guy to ground Guillard and out-wrestle him. He might also have the best chin in the division and wouldn't be put away by strikes and use Guillard's strikes to get takedowns. (Guida, though with both at Jackson's I doubt they'll fight)

Penn : If a motivated BJ shows up, he'd win. Sadly, he's not motivated to seriously try to win and would lose the kickboxing match. (Guillard)

Florian : If he moved back to LW he might be the most likely to sub Guillard. Then again Florian keeps moving down in weight when he gets into trouble so this fight will never happen.

Its MMA. But honestly Maynard might have the best chance, the rest would get KO'd. Melendez would of wish he stayed at SF and Florian would look like Barry after getting ktfo for the first time. Maynard is probably the best LnPer in the division, but I doubt even he could hold onto Guillard for long periods.

And for those who are saying people have iron chins; Barry had one, Hardy had one, Daley had one, both korean fighters had one. Anyone and everyone can get rocked. With Melvin's speed and natural power in his hands, I honestly think no one would stand a chance. Who else can match his speed/power combo at 155? He has all the tools now.
