Buzz_Kill
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/7/5/2259863/patricio-pitbull-friere-out-bellator-47-title-fight-broken Patricio "Pitbull" Freire will have to wait a while longer before he gets the chance to avenge his only loss. He was expected to face Joe Warren for the Bellator featherweight title at Bellator 47 on July 23rd, but the fight will now be pushed back to the fall. MMAJunkie has it: A broken hand has forced Patricio "Pitbull" Freire (17-1 MMA, 5-1 BFC) to withdraw from a planned fight with Bellator Fighting Championships featherweight champion Joe Warren (7-1 MMA, 5-0 BFC). MMAjunkie.com today confirmed the injury with Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, who said the fight will likely be rebooked following Warren's participation on the promotion's upcoming season-five bantamweight tourney. Friere had won the season four featherweight tournament to earn another shot at Warren, who beat him by split decision at Bellator 23 last June. If Warren makes the finals of the season five bantamweight tournament, Friere might be waiting a long time to get his chance again. Warren will face Alexis Vila in the quarter-finals of that tournament on September 24th at Bellator 51.

BESERKER
Bellator 47 Set for July 23 at Casino Rama in Ontario by Mike Whitman (mwhitman@sherdog.com) Bellator 47 finally has a location, the promotion announced Tuesday, as the July 23 event will emanate from Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada. The second event in Bellator's upcoming ?Summer Series? trilogy, Bellator 47 marks the first time that the promotion has ventured to Canada. Sherdog.com first reported that Bellator would make its Canadian debut on July 23. ?Our fans have been asking us to come to Canada since our first season,? said Bellator head Bjorn Rebney in the release. ?Casino Rama is an unbelievable venue and should make for a magical night of fights at Bellator 47.? Limited specifics regarding the event's fight card are known at this point, but Bellator featherweight champion Joe Warren (pictured) is scheduled to defend his strap at the event against Season 4 tournament winner Patricio "Pitbull" Freire. The event will also feature the semifinals of Bellator's upcoming 145-pound tournament, which will take place over the course of the ?Summer Series? events. UFC veteran Ben Saunders is expected to compete at Bellator 47, but his opponent is not currently known. Casino Rama opened in 1996 and Bellator 47 will mark the establishment's first encounter with the Chicago-based fight promotion. MMA was legalized in Ontario in 2010, and in 2011 the Canadian province played host to UFC 129, which became the largest UFC event in North American history. The show attracted over 55,000 spectators to the Rogers Centre in Toronto and earned a live gave of over $12 million. {Featherweight Championship} Joe The Baddest Man on the Planet Warren (7-1) vs. Patricio Pitbull Freire (17-1) [Featherweight Tournament Semifinal] Pat Curran (14-4) vs. Ronnie Kid Ninja Mann (20-2) [Featherweight Tournament Semifinal] Nazareno Naza Malegarie (20-1) vs. Marlon Sandro (18-2)
